Kinkos:

8.5 x 11  =  $.49 (most covers won't fit on this, only psp)
11 x 17  =  $.99

i would personally recommend office max though, i have been to both.

Office Max:
(these numbers may be different though, i have a membership card)

8.5 x 11  =  $.39
11 x 17  =  $.69

Its kind of strange..  But I have an Epson Stylus CX 8400 that allows me to print DVD covers on 8.5 X 11 paper.  This is the only printer I have ever had that allows me to do this.  If you take out the insert from a DVD case and transpose it on a 8.5 X 11 sheet of paper .. you will see that it should fit fine.  The problem is that most printer wont allow you to print so close to the edge.  This printer does .. It is great.  I am sure that it could also print UGC inserts as well.  I bought mine for about $69.95 at Target.  The ink is cheap enough, throw in some nice brochure paper and you are ready to print most if not all covers on the 8.5 X 11 paper of your choice.  It might be more cost effective.

that could be true in the long run but i've already spent ~$100 on printing covers so its all down hill from here  :)

good find on the printer though, printers that print to the edge are uncommon.

@csvo2000: Maybe in the future it will be more cost effective, but seeing as how I only need around 10-15 covers max printed at the moment, I'd say it's not.

I get my covers printed at Staples and the covers fit fine on 8.5 x 11 if you print in landscape mode. Also if you sign up for the Staples reward card (free) you get 10% back for every purchase made at the end of each quarter. I didn't know about Office Max having a cheaper price and will surely check them out.

Yeah, I can't recommend Staples and 8.5 x 11's enough (for DS inserts, at least).

Second time I went to Kinko's, they said they couldn't sell 'em because they're copyrighted material.  Just be aware.

You guys must be lucky.  Everytime I tried going to staples they told me they wouldn't sell me printed covers.  This was before I found a good supplier for paper, so I just print them off myself.

That's the only thing keeping me from trying Kinkos, Staples, Office Max or any other places.

Anyone who's looked at my pics of the games in UGCs might notice it doesn't fit perfectly.
Its a little smaller than it should be, but I do it free from my work when the front office is empty....

There's a local scrapbooking store just down the street from my house that I use, they charge a dollar a cover and the end result always looks nice :)

Another question, since I'll likely be going there tomorrow: How are the self service kiosks, and is there a way to pay in cash?

If they try and hassle me claiming it's "copyright infringement" I'll simply let them in on a little facet of copyright law known as "fair use".

I go to Kinko's too, the 11x17 glossy finish paper is the closest I have found to DVD cover paper.  I have a couple friends who work there so they take care of me.

I laminated my 11sq. foot, 2 Metal Gear Solid 4 posters of Snake and Raiden.  $3/sq. foot, that jankz cost me about $63.  But well worth it.

"Fair Use" goes out the window when someone's making money on it.  In this case, Kinko's is selling you the copyrighted product.

Kinko's provides a service, not a product. I'm sure that would factor into it somehow.

If they say no, you won't be able to budge them.  They are just following the rules of their "national chain" job.
Even if you are right they don't want to loose their job (better safe than sorry theory).
You would have to convince their corporate (good luck even talking to a higher up) to get any results.

thats why i say go to office max.  it less exspensive, they cut it for you and if you are not happy with the print they will reprint it free of charge untill you are satisfied.
