It reminds me of the old xbox 360 design that allowed for custom faceplates. I always liked the woodgrain.
I noticed there's no green. I guess there leaving that to Xbox.

I think the brighter colors would look better on the white PS4 than on the black one.

They stand out too much on the darker model. But that's just me, and I'm sure lots of people would jump at a chance to make their PS4 a little more garish.

The thing that makes it news is that they are finally available, I would assume.

Or previous versions were from third-party companies and this one is 'official'?

I don't know, because I don't remember seeing anything about official replacements until reading this story.  :-\
