This is interesting.  If it turns into a Kickstarter, I would probably back it.

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

I would absolutely back it.  That's something that's been needed for a long time.  Jaguar controllers aren't that bad, they're actually pretty comfortable, but 6 button controllers (pro controller) are stupid expensive these days.  And the 5200 controller....that's a nightmare on wheels.  Aside from being failure prone, they were uncomfortable, difficult to get used to, and had no centering mechanism on the joystick.  That rotary spinner is pretty damn slick too.
I'm bender3455 on playstation network, feel free to add me!

Cool... what are the analogs for? Would those be useable in FPS or would it still be Dpad? I'm not sure how they could change the game to work with analog.

Will definitely buy if available at reasonable price and quality is good.

Aren't 5200 joysticks analog, I think they stem from those.

Correct, they are for the 5200.  However, the articles states that they will try to get them to work for the Jaugar.  I guess they would have to find a way to convert the analog signal to a digital signal.  The stick would have to work the same as an arcade joystick.

The part I'm not sure about is why there would be two analog sticks.

At least one 5200 game (Space Dungeon) used 2 controllers mounted on a plastic holder. This controller might work in this case... might

He needs to hand this over to someone who can make some ergonomic test models.  That thing looks awful and I'm sure isn't very comfortable. It should at least be one of those two (and generally speaking, you can't have both).

My only experience with Atari 5200 controllers was a guy who collected Atari stuff and told me that every single Atari 5200 controller will break after almost no time at all.

That's as good a reason for making new non-breaking ones as I could possibly think of!

For convenience, here is the Kickstarter Jaguar/5200 controller:

And here is the original Jaguar controller (the 5200 controller is three posts above this post):

Yes, I've seen the kickstarter and the original Jaguar controller.  Most idiotic OEM controller I can think of.

Yeah. I wasn't posting it for you, just so there can be pics of everything with no clicking necessary.

The Jaguar controller is comfortable, has a good dpad, and works quite well. Not sure what's idiotic about that. It's a bigger controller and might be too much for guys with small hands though
