Now that Super Mario maker it out, Nintendo may be looking at the next "maker" game. What would you think/wish the next game be?

I would think something like The Legend of Zelda or Metroid (in their NES/SNES/GBA styles). Or if Capcom would jump in the makers wagon, I wouldn't say no to a Mega man maker!

First thing that came to mind was Metroid.

I never thought about Nintendo making more "maker" games, but now that you mention it, I'm thinking that Nintendo found another way to take our money.  :P
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

I would like all 3 you mentioned + Kirby Maker and Castlevania.

Zelda Dungeon Maker would work, as would Mega Man, Castlevania and Kirby stage makers if the creation area would be way larger than Super Mario Maker's area is (it's way too small (thank you USA and their slow internet speeds :P).

But Metroid in any any good way would be too big task.

The idea of doing a mega man level with firebrand or a Metroid level with Kirby sounds kind of neat.

If that ends up to be true, they pretty much created yet another market in which they have the monopoly... for the wii they initially were the only ones with motion control (I guess) and now with a touch screen remote to edit maps like a boss.

Not to mention that the 3DS also has the hardware to support this.

Still no pictionary game though  :'(

I like all of the ideas you guys have, but sadly I think they're all a fair bit more complex than Mario.  Mario is pretty straightforward (as, I guess, is classic 'Vania -- if Konami got into the game, as well as classic Mega Man if Capcom would)... but Metroid or Zelda are seriously in depth so I dunno if they could simplify it down to the Maker style.

Dunno about Kirby, confession time I've never really played it.

Capcom WAS going to make a Mega Man maker type game called Mega Man Universe, but that got cancelled during production in 2011. I would LOVE to see it brought back! They were gonna have character customization, a level editor, and feature playable characters from other Capcom franchises like Ryu from Street Fighter and Arthur from Ghosts n' Goblins. So much Capcom goodness! :)
To be this good it takes AGES!

I would love a Legend of Zelda Dungeon maker game. They could use assets from LoZ, Link to the Past, and Link Between Worlds.

Or add Zelda 2 dungeon Maker as DLC (with major canvas increase) to Super Mario Maker.

Mega Man had a stage maker in the PSP game Mega Man: Powered Up. From my understanding, it's supposed to actually be pretty good.

I want to see a donkey Kong country maker before anyone says this would be too difficult I'm gonna go ahead and say it wouldn't as when you get down to it the engines for Mario games and donkey Kong games aren't too diffrent someone said Zelda and metroid would be too complicated as Well but no they wouldn't it just wouldn't be so great for user created content to download given as metroid and Zelda games are big games

LoLo would be pretty sweet IMO.

Wouldn't mind an F-Zero maker a la 64DD.

F-zero would be rad.  But classic snes F-zero, i'm just not a fan of the newer ones.  I like racing and using skill to win, not spinning my racer around and killing my opponents.

Megaman would also be great.  Zelda and metroid would be fun but those games aren't really able to made using small "levels."  You would have to design an entire connected world which would take forever!

Maybe a 16-bit pilotwings maker wouldn't be too bad; I got a soft spot for that one too.
