| More control over volume levels? |

Best solution would be to get a sound system of some sort to add to the TV. A lot of televisions these days come with some pretty crappy built in speakers because so many people use external speakers. A sound bar is a good space saving solution if your room isn't set up well for a surround sound speaker system. Aside from external speakers... Check the settings on your TV and BluRay/DVD player and see if the audio options have something like a sound leveling option. Might be called different things in different brands (I think Vizio calls is SRS TruVolume). It's not a perfect solution, but it does generally help to smooth out the volume levels when watching a show or movie so you might not notice such a drastic difference in effects vs speech. I say 'might not' because a lot depends on the sound mixing on a movie. |
