4K TVs.. waste of time?

480i was an insufficient resolution. It was fine, but the image wasn't steady and a lot of fine details got lost in films.
720 and 1080p fixed that. It's much easier to notice background objects and small effects. 4K builds upon that, but I doubt most people will actually notice it

I don't think 4K is an essential improvement like the jump from SD to HD was. But still, that curved tv that I saw at best buy was a sexy beast.

To me, it's night and day though. When I looked at some of the 4k tvs, it felt like I was in the tv

How many times are we going to go down this road with you? Technology is only important if you are worried about what your friends say. Do you find it just as important to get the latest washing machine, fridge, car, motorcycle, oven? They are just as technologically advanced as your phone/console/tv, but because your "friends" aren't goading you into buying them, you remain blissfully ignorant about it.

It's as important now to keep up as it always has been (in your lifetime at least), i.e.: NOT ONE BIT IMPORTANT. it's just you've got yourself in a cycle of trying to keep up with what others have. will anyone die if you don't have the latest gadget? Will buying the next iPhone bring world peace? Will having a 4K tv stop religious fanaticism or terrorism? Will faster internet feed the world? There are far more important things out in the real world to be genuinely concerned about, and to be frank, nobody here gives a flying rats ass that you are worried about a fucking television resolution that may or may not happen in 10 years time. Open your eyes, grow up, read a newspaper.

Sheep. I was doing some thinking. About like why it bothered me how my friend doesn't have a smart phone. You know how there are PC elitists on the internet that can't stand console gamers who don't play on PC's? They constantly write on all the youtube videos that you need to play on a PC, console gaming is lousy, etc..

There are plenty of them. It's just like the PS4 and XB1 console war. They all care about what other people own and have to represent their console and argue in the comments. Then the PC fans care and they have to chime in and announce how everyone should be gaming on a PC.

I think that the way they care about what other people play games on is like how I care about how my friend doesn't have a smart phone. Is it HUMAN NATURE? To be insecure when someone doesn't have what you have or do what you do? Now I know that I DO have this flaw in my thinking but I don't know why I think like that.

No, it's not human nature to be insecure about another person having less than you - regardless of reason - to be at all concerned about his choices that are completely inconsequential to you is just downright weird! It is a bad trait to have a superiority complex because your phone is better than his. It's shallow, and immature. That also goes for your friends who say the same thing about yours. Get over it.
