For the people that count as classic gamers. Metal Gear Solid 5 doesn't exist.
I own around 2000 games, several of which are PS1 and older. Pretty sure I count as a "classic gamer."
And I am currently, as I type this with one hand, holding my copy of MGS V in my other. So your argument is invalid.
For those that choose to avoid new games entirely, I wouldn't call them "classic gamers." I don't know WHAT I would call them, but to each their own.
I know that some people are snobs who think that anything past a certain generation of consoles is trash - and to them I say get off your high horse and shove it up your ass.
Concepts like "better" and "fun" are relative. One person's opinion is no better than another's. That said, if all you want to play is old stuff with bad graphics, be my guest. Me? I'm playing an amazing game right now. Next, I think I may go back and play a few Genesis or TG 16 titles. Or maybe I'll just play Fallout 4. That's the benefit of versatility.
