Hey Guys, want to share my solution to the problem of getting UGC when your not located in the US.

Basicly Empty DVD Cases available in 135x190x(21mm , 37mm , 40mm) sizes

priced at 0,79€ in this german shop i found plus additional shipping fees of 6,50€. You can probably get similar cases elsewhere. Still alot cheapter then importing (if even possible) UGC cases wich will then usually cost around 2€ each.

I currently only use the 21mm ones, wich are quite ok for Nes, Snes, and n64 games (probably others aswell), as long as the booklets arent too big, otherwise they kinda bulge a bit.
I will probably get a few bigger ones for the supergameboy and other wider games. anyway here are some pictures with custom made inlays :

also they blend perfectly between normal dvds :-)

for the covers im using UGC covers resizing them for back/front 13,2mm x 18,5 mm and the spine down to 2,1 mm x 18,5 mm
for the Inlays im using resized versions of this vhs inlay template (property of /created by edelzocker.de) :

heres a overview how they look side by side (also im using LTO5 tape cases i can take from work for gameboy/gbc games)

Man, I scoured the internet for something exactly like that a while back and didn't come up with anything. Nice find! Now if only they were available in the US...

There's a member here named Shadowfox that is coming out with cases for nearly every system you could want. They're really nice and have a mold specific to each system. Plus, they hold manuals.

well will they be available outside of the US/UK for a reasonable Price  ;)

small note on those multiboxes. after covering quite alot now. i noticed that snes (pal) games only barely fit (they bulk out the middle a tiny bit, when a Manual is added quite a bit), next time i would probably go a size bigger, but sadly there is no inbetween 21 and 37. Just as an Information if anyone wants to follow my route and is more intrested in Manuals then i am ;-)

There are threads about the cases here in the forum or you could check out his website, customgamecases.com

I believe the prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality.

Still its alot cheaper for me to get those empty dvd covers and just build a inlay myself.
for example if i wanted to get 90 of those covered cases i had to pay :
270$ + 144,03 $ shipping = 414,03 $

compared to 90 (although not as high in quality & without premade covers / inlays) Empty Multibox DVD Cases
71,10 € + 6,50 € shipping = 77,10 € with the current exchange rate thats 86,69 $

granted i have to add some manual Labor / Printing costs but thats still way cheaper then importing some (although probably better) Cases out of the US. And without some Work getting the collection Covered wheres the fun in it :-)

If i would go with them i would also have to worry if pal snes games would fit them since they are designed for US Snes games. This way i can just make/modify the Inlay myself and Print/Cut/Glue them together :-)

What saddens me though is, that on that site they havesome covers i would need but are not available here  :-X

Really nice case, especially since it doesn't have the disc holder.
Where did you buy them? Is there a website?

Thanks

For Scandinavia or western Europe UGC and inserts can be bought from www.retrospelboxar.se
Base my work on material from TCP and various other places, using my own templates and working with Paint.net.

@Ceuse,

These are called no hub or hubless dvd cases widely used in rubber stamp collecting, know as rubber stamp storage cases.
eBay: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=rubber+stamp+clear+cases&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xrubber+stamp+storage+cases.TRS0&_nkw=rubber+stamp+storage+cases&_sacat=0

I've been doing similar things with hubless VHS cases for some of my handhelds. I think it's a neat idea if you can't get UGC's. I got VHS cases next to nothing so bought bunch of them.
Now I'm toying around with fitting my old GBA SP into one.

This's just a rough inlay made out of some cardboard. Final product will look way nicer and sharper.

I fold them differently too & I think it's a much sturdier inlay design, regardless of cardstock used.
There's really no need for cardboard, I just happened to have it lying around.

It looks, shitty here, but like I said, it's just a makeshift thing.

And don't worry about the cover either, it's just temporary. Just to get the point across.

This looks excellent, but the only downside is that it will not hold manuals, in my case that's a must have

GBA SP console manual is small enough to fit in there.
With some additional R&D it should be somewhat easy to make spot for it.
