I mean, for those who insist on complete uniformity on the spines of PS1, PS2 and PS3 games, I would argue that that does not make much sense. Hardware-wise and just looking at Sony's own policy, the PS3 is a completely different platform than the PS2 and PS1, it contains no hardware or software BC support, so why pretend it's the same by insisting on uniform spines? |

All PS3s have PS1 software support. http://kotaku.com/gaming/notag/sony-could-run-bc-on-40gb-ps3s-they-just-dont-want-to-308467.php --- Quote ---PS one The PS3 has never been equipped with either the CPU or GPU that were used in the original PlayStation, and the backwards compatibility for PS one titles has therefore been made available through software emulation from the beginning. Therefore backwards compatibility for PS1 titles remains the same no matter how many times the model is changed. --- End quote --- |

I personally can't stand the look of a standard PS3 case, cover (hate the look of the spine, ugh), or spiderman font style, and now that I've got myself a 60GB PS3 with full BC I'm looking forward to having PS3 games in custom DVD cases with that PS2 font style custom covers, so as to continue the look from the custom PS1, PS2, and now PS3 all in the same DVD cases and the same horizontal covers to play all 3 generation of games on 1 machine. :D |
