A bit more on topic, I personally like this look the best.

Should we maybe start a poll?

I'm still not feeling the gradient on the spine... Like the rest though. Is that globe icon with a 1 on it (presumably the region) on a real PS3 game?

Hmm... what if the spine was all black and the gradient started on the opposite side?

Nah, I like the white to black, left to right on the front, it's just since you're making this for a uniform look, there should be uniform spines IMO.

Yes, it's on the real PS3 games, and something I'm going to be adding to the template.

Like I've said before, my vote goes to variant #1 as seen here in my .psd file.

It makes the most sense visually.

I mean, for those who insist on complete uniformity on the spines of PS1, PS2 and PS3 games, I would argue that that does not make much sense.  Hardware-wise and just looking at Sony's own policy, the PS3 is a completely different platform than the PS2 and PS1, it contains no hardware or software BC support, so why pretend it's the same by insisting on uniform spines?

For alot of people it does have PS2 backwards compat, and for all it has PS1 compat.

All PS3s have PS1 software support.

PS one
The PS3 has never been equipped with either the CPU or GPU that were used in the original PlayStation, and the backwards compatibility for PS one titles has therefore been made available through software emulation from the beginning. Therefore backwards compatibility for PS1 titles remains the same no matter how many times the model is changed.

Hey guys! I know it's been awhile (over a month) but I've been working on the following. Please give my your comments.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Limited Edition:

Original Cover - PS2 Font:

http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/Sorwah.custom.ps3_custom_ps3dvd_metalgearsolid4gunsofthepatriotsle_ps2t.jpg

Alternate Cover - PS2 Font:

I REALLY like the PS2 font style better.  I personally can't stand the look of a standard PS3 case, cover (hate the look of the spine, ugh), or spiderman font style, and now that I've got myself a 60GB PS3 with full BC I'm looking forward to having PS3 games in custom DVD cases with that PS2 font style custom covers, so as to continue the look from the custom PS1, PS2, and now PS3 all in the same DVD cases and the same horizontal covers to play all 3 generation of games on 1 machine. :D

Those look pretty awesome, but I do like my PS3 boxes.  I may one day move all my PS1 and PS2 games to BD PS3 format though...

I do understand. However, it will be kind of hard to fit your DVD instruction manual in the Blu-ray case.

Oh, and I plan to make a custom PS3 cover with the LE art I made if you would like.

Alright peeps! I think I have my template 90% done. I'm sharing it with you now (and editing the first post). Any help to further upgrade the template (ESRB back labels, blu-ray logos, etc.) would be appreciated.

I don't have Adobe Photoshop so if someone knows how to convert a PaintShopPro (.pspimage) file into a Photoshop (.psd) file I'd much appreciate it.

Until I find a way to provide hosting for the template, please use SendSpace:
