I am liking what I see. Let me see if I can throw that in for my Heavenly Sword work.

Not sure. I think since the purpose of this whole thing is to create uniformity, so the font on the spine should match the PS2's. On the from it can look different, though. PS1 and PS2's fronts don't match anyway.

I think it's acceptable to have a slightly different front if the basic visual format is maintained (which it is).

The point isn't necessarily complete uniformity, but firstly to store PS3 games in a standard dvd template that balances style and uniformity.

The other thing being that it's pretty silly to put the old PS2 font on the spine, since the template is for a newer platform with it's own unique typeface.

So it makes sense to use the PS3 "Spiderman" font on the spine, and in that case, you're already deviating from perfect visual uniformity, so why not spruce it up a little?  ;)

Here's what I got. Although I do prefer the PS2 font on the spine since it stands out a bit better. I wouldn't mind putting the fade on the spine and spidey font in a template for those who might want to.

try using the spidey logos in my .psd, they stick out just fine .

also I think the spine would look better with a slightly more gentle gradient.  8)

I feel I should point out that the main reason that ps1 games in a ps2 style case is valid and meaningful is because they can all be played on the same system.

Unfortunately that is no longer the case with the ps3. All current and future versions being sold lack ps2 compatibility.

But they do have PS1 capabilities.

So you're saying we should merge PS1 into Blu-ray cases?  :P

Also, my PS3 plays PS2 games, maybe some other people do as well?

oh not at all. I'm not even against this idea, I'm just tossing a concern out there.

As for the backwards compatibility, it has in fact been official dropped from all future models. It was available on previous models, however, so you two likely have those.

I don't like the gray labeling, maybe I'm the only one.

When you say "previous models", what do you mean by that exactly?
