Hello! First, I wanted to say, I've greatly enjoyed your site for many years, but there are a few covers that have eluded me in that time (and my Photoshop skills are pretty lacking). As my collection is always growing, I'll be updating this post with the "master" list, crossing items out (and providing links) on this first post, and probably bumping with any major incoming games list.

Unfortunately, for the most part, on the Japanese titles I do not have box scans; I can provide for like two of them, and will once I get a chance, but the rest I do not presently have boxes for. I recognize this means that those titles will likely not get done, and that's fine; I totally get it. This is more of a "Hey, if you've got the art and the time, I'd really love to see it!" list. I am using Universal Game Cases for all these titles. In the case of the Japanese titles, I'm really hoping for something close to the actual product, no special bars or additions or anything like that; I'm  quite happy with the text being the same as well. On the N64 US titles, I'm hoping to get vertical-styled case art; I'd actually prefer the original "spine" color to the "all green" style others seem to like, but you know, I'm cool with either!

So, without further ado~

Hey Baphijmm,

Welcome to forums man (or lady! ha ha).....you have made a fine decision in signing up, as there are a lot of great people around here and always good stuff to talk about and what not, so check the other sections of the forums too.

As for your cover requests, I am a big SFC collector (well, all things Nintendo but SFC and SNES are my main passions) and have been making SFC covers for a while now, with all kinds of happy customers who have requested those elusive Japanese covers!

I have been on hiatus for a while lately but I will be coming back with a bang soon, and one of the things I have very much missed doing is what started all this for me!!......the SFC covers!

So check out the ones I have done for both myself and others so far in my thread (linked below this post in the sig area) and make sure you are cool with the close to retail style I go for with them, and if you are I will get to work on some of the ones you want here soon.

Just so you know, when scanning boxes, they need to ideally 600dpi to allow us cover makers the detail/resolution/quality to really be able to work with them and adapt them into a fine UGC cover, so if possible (as it can take a while) scan them in as close to that as you can get.

The rest, I will start looking for suitable scans of them in a few days and let you know how I get on.

Cheers and hopefully be having some done for you soon!

Actually, I'm really glad you posted; wasn't sure if anyone at all was doing Super Famicom designs. Those look excellent! And as luck would have it, between the first post and now I just netted five more games for that system, all of which (except Super R-Type, which I found on that thread!) look like they'll need artwork as well. The only one that will be coming with a box is Tenchi Souzou (Terranigma), which, again, I'll scan in once it arrives. EDIT: Looks like I was wrong; the game is coming with a manual, but NOT the box. Whoops.

I'll definitely scan at 600dpi; that's what I strive for anyway. The boxes in question aren't the cleanest-looking things, but if nothing else it should add to the repository.

Scan absolurely flat and straight for easier cleaning, moire removal would not hurt either, but if your scanner doesn't do it, don't do it afterwards.

Sounds good! and glad you found a cover you need already for one of the new ones!!........Super R-Type was requested of me a while ago so glad thats getting some further use too!

Tomorrow evening Ill have some real time to start looking for some high resolution scans across all the places I trawl through typically to find the artwork for SFC covers......maybe even start one as well.

Thank you on the scan quality too, youd be surprised how many people do not realise, think, bother or listen to the advice of scanning at such high levels of resolution.......and then moan and whine when their requests for covers made out of 72dpi based images are ignored/not made!  ;D

And as for the cleanliness and/condition of the boxes, dont worry about that at all......THAT is what we are here for!!! to make those ropey, busted, scratched and torn boxes BACK into gorgeously perfect covers once again! hopefully you will be surprised and amazed at how they can be cleaned up and made whole again.  :o

Cool, speak again soon.

Man, have I REALLY missed making SFC covers!!!  ;D

They just make me smile, and I find myself enjoying every facet of it........think I was right to get back to these before launching myself back into Banisher's seemingly never ending quest to finish the SNES NTSC-U Horizontal Retail's! ha ha.

Anyway, so as with pretty much all of my SFC covers, I have preserved a lot of original retail content and detail.......but added my little extra unique touches.

As it was/is a horizontal cover instead of the typical vertical design, I decided to keep that as it is so as not to either distort and alter it.

What this typically means though is that there is a space to the left hand side of the front as obviously the UGC's are wider and again, I do like to stretch or distort the original images. So I made a little collage of characters in the form of those rectangle boxes on the front, I had 7 images from a cool one I found but wanted it to be even so I made another box from another character so it is nice and symmetrical.

Also added a game image onto the spine as with it being all so white the spine looked a little bland and empty, so hope that adds a little pizazz to it as well.

Anything you dont like Baphijmm, just let me know.......otherwise, hope you like it!!

That looks great! Yeah, I'm very happy with the design being done horizontally; SNES games released in other countries, the box art was constricted to these logos and standards, to the point that making the box art vertical is entirely reasonable; on the SFC boxes though, every single box was its own unique work of art, only bound by the need for the SFC logo somewhere, the UPC, and potentially any warnings. As such, I'd actually prefer keeping the box art close to the original, or at least to demonstrate the original intended *feel* of the box art. I'm more than good with that.

Aaaand, now that I have it, here's the scans for the Slayers box art! ActRaiser is still on its way, but once it gets here I'll scan it similarly. Unfortunately, the software I have doesn't do moire removal (and also doesn't work in Windows 10; I had to set up another machine just to get it to work), but I was able to get it scanned 600dpi.

Excellent, glad you like both the cover and the style!  ;D .......forcing the horizontal image into a vertical format would have ruined it of course, or meant that it had to be changed drastically from the original retail style so thats why I went with it like that but just with the extras like the collage of characters on the side of the front to fill in the areas that needed it.

Cool, so again, glad you are on board and will be happy with how I envision doing these in my custom retail style.  :P

Thank you for the Slayers scan, there are a few little areas of fuzziness but that cant be helped.......and because you have done it in 600dpi and large dimensions, it makes the cleaning up of that kind of stuff (and anything else that needs to be make the final cover flawless) so much easier and quicker.

The worst case I have ever had was making a cover for Kiki KaiKai (Pocky and Rocky) from a 96dpi image as it was LITERALLY the only one available............it was painstaking and took over a month!! as I literally had to re-draw every single facet of it, including every single Japanese letter/symbol on the back text!! felt like I could write Japanese after that. ha ha.

It came out amazing though (if I may say so myself, ha ha) but my god was it hard work........had serious wrist and thumb cramp for a while after all the intricate and intense level of 300% zoomed in clean up!  :o

The scans I have and with this Slayers one should mean they will all go smoothly, just need to find the time (which will come in the form of a little bit later on today and then some good solid days starting Tuesday till Thursday) so I will have a crack at them and post some more soon.

New to the cover project forums, I really hope someone can make a universal game case for Neon Genesis Evangelion. I found on google a pretty good scan of the front and back of the case but not the side.

Link us the images and we'll see what happens

Thread necromancy! But, I figured, this was at least related.

While waiting for a perhaps slightly more professional job to come along, I threw together a quick and dirty vertical N64 cover for Off Road Challenge. Hope this helps someone; I know it's not ideal (I have no idea how you folks mask barcodes on third-party games with intricate background detail), but it's something at least. I'm gonna try my hand at Roadsters next, I think.

And one more! As stated in the last post, I attempted Roadsters next. With a more conventional back, I was able to do quite a bit more towards cleaning it up and making it look good. Hope it helps someone else!

Yet another! Spent most of tonight on this, largely because I wanted to learn the software well enough to render most everything I could without copy-pasting it all in place. Great learning experience, and also quite a bit of fun.

Yet another! I'm having a lot of fun with these. I know I said that before, but it's still true. Really letting me flex my graphical design wings.

I also did a MUCH better job with the Off Road Challenge case art this evening; put the things I've learned to use on that. The same link from before now links to the new result.

Last one, and a bonus! I'd actually grabbed a cover for Gex64: Enter the Gecko from... somewhere in the forums, but it used the same sort of flawed "just flip and stretch the back, and it'll be fine" logic I'd initially used for my Off Road Challenge cover; it actually had two different UPCs on the back, which in my opinion just made it look sloppy. So, I cleaned it up, cropped some things, moved some stuff around, and the result is here. Also, Space Invaders, because that was the last one in my list.
