I have an problem with my PlayStation2 (SCPH-900001)
The problem is, that any time i put a DVD-Video disc on it, the system does NOT recognises it as a (DVD Video) instead it recognises it as a (PlayStation2 DISC).

Why is it happening?

(My PlayStation2 was bought on 2004.)

Most likely the laser going bad, do Ps2 games work?
You could try to clean the laser using 90% alcohol and a qtip, but be very gentle.

If that doesn't work try adjusting the pot on the laser and if that doesn't work look for a replacement laser.
