So let me start by saying that when I play a video game, I TRY my best to play it without cheating.  With that said, I’m not hard core enough to say that I would NEVER cheat and there are some games out there that I love to play, but simply don’t have the skills to beat without cheating.

Therefore, I’m a big fan of the Game Genie.  Beat’em ups like Turtles in Time are great games, but I simply don’t have the skills to play through to the end.  I enjoy them as simplistic, relaxing, time wasters and using the infinite lives cheat makes the game more enjoyable to me by allowing me to beat it in one setting.

Which brings me to my point.  Some systems didn’t have Game Genie support.  The Turbografx-16 and Master System are two good examples (Master System had Action Replay, but not in the US).  I’ve researched how to get around this and found that some people can patch ROMs of games which allow you to cheat with either an emulator or a flash cart.  However, the ability to patch these games manually, was way over my head.  Last night I found an application that allows you to enter cheat codes and patch the ROMs.  The application includes Master System and TG16.  I used it last night with my Turbo Everdrive running through my PC Engine and it worked perfectly.  I beat Splatterhouse for the first time.  I love the game, but just didn’t have the skillset to complete the game on my own.

Maybe this was already common knowledge for many, and maybe this has been discussed here on the forums already, but I have never heard of it, and I was really excited to try it out, so I though t I would share my findings.

If I’m flirting too close with video game pirating, I don’t mind deleting this post.  But the download does not include any ROMs, and the creator doesn’t seem to be using it to encourage pirating.
For the record, my anti-virus didn’t like this download, but I was able to restore if after deletion and it worked perfectly (unlike Imgburn).

Here’s the link.  Hopefully others will enjoy it as I have.

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Awesome! I guess it makes sense, seeing as the codes are really changing basic hex code, but, still, a patcher like that is really neat. You can do a lot of cool things with GG codes, including some hidden content.
