The Best DOOM?

Thom Grayson:

Doom 64 is more like Doom 3 than the real Doom 3 was. Not to say that I didn't like Doom 3. But it's certainly different than the first 2.

I also have it for 360 but it doesn't have all the levels.
And from what I've read neither does the  PS3 version.

So I guess I mean from PS1 and back.

Thanks though.

Ah. I see.  I thought you were referring to the doom 3 port on the original xbox lol.

From what I know about the other Doom ports the 32x has good graphics but bad sound.  Snes is the opposite, bad graphics good sound.

I feel like either n64 or ps1 would be the best bet.  But having played neither on those systems I can't say for sure which is the best port

palmer6strings:

Well doom 64 is more like a sequel than a port.
Meh. It's like asking myself which copies of resident evil do I want to keep. I have Resident Evil, Resident Evil Directors cut and Resident Evil 2 on PS1. But then I also have Resident Evil for Saturn and Resident Evil 2 for N64.... Don't know which ones I wanna ditch.

Megatron:

This is also technically a sequel, however I think the best Doom on the 5th gen (and previous) is Final Doom.  It plays like the original Doom on PSX, but is an enchanced version of Doom II.  Again, sequel, but a damn fine game.

RE DC for PS1 (for the easy/normal/hard modes), RE for Saturn (for the red hunter extra enemy) and RE 2 for N64 - unless you have the dual shock ps1 version of RE 2, then stick with that version.
