The Best DOOM?
palmer6strings:
Ok guys, I'm sorry to do this, but I'm trying to figure out which one to keep (or maybe buy) for home console.
I've looked all over the net and can't get a solid answer on which is the best.
I have it for:
SNES
32x (thinking about selling)
Saturn (thinking about selling)
Xbox (Doom 3 Collectors/BFG Edition)
I want the best of all worlds, (all levels, great sound and graphics, all weapons and monsters, good frame rate...) but it looks like I'm not goin to get this from just one version. So I suppose I mainly want all levels with good frame rate.
I'm leaning to the PS1 version but am unsure.
Would also like to get Doom 64 since it's pretty much a different game alltogether.
Any thoughts/opinions and insight would be great!
Edit: I'm looking for PS1 and older. Nothing newer pretty please!
Araden64:
Look up Doom 3 BFG Edition, it came with DOOM, DOOM 2, AND 3.
Seemed like a faithful emulation when I played it on my 360, also available on PS3.
palmer6strings:
I have the BFG edition, (as stated above, but prolly wasn't that clear)
I also have it for 360 but it doesn't have all the levels.
And from what I've read neither does the PS3 version.
So I guess I mean from PS1 and back.
Thanks though.

For me the ultimate version (on home console) of the ORIGINAL Doom alone is the N64 version.......just looks and feels right to me.
Got me a really great condition Japanese CIB copy recently and plays like a dream.
Just my 2 cents. ;)

I found a PS1 version a few months ago and popped it in just to test it. I ended up playing it for over an hour, it was a very good port. SNES and 32x versions suck for different reasons. I never tried it on Saturn though. Doom 64 is also very good but if I remember right it was more like a sequel than a port.
