Why anyone thinks "power" is relevant at all is beyond me.  If your rationale is that the NX will see more cross-platform titles, then I still believe it makes no difference. Nintendo consoles don't thrive because of Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty.

I'm sure there are some Nintendo fans who would like not to have to choose between a Nintendo console and one that can play the third-party games they are interested in.

I want power to enable ultra high resolutions, and high spec first party games.

There is no point basing a new piece of hardware with out of date specs, other than to keep production costs down.

I'm sure there are as well. But I'd wager that it just isn't all that many. I know I sure as hell don't buy Nintendo consoles to play 3rd party/multi-platform games.

I would love for it to be the complete opposite of what the Wii U is.

I am now anticipating a philosophical debate about what the opposite of a Wii U is :P

A system without a stupid gimmick, and more than 5 games I want. (there really are about 5 games that interest me on that system.)

OR, how about this;

J: some kind of deal with a few high profile devs. (Capcom, SquareEnix, Bethesda etc. ), where Nintendo pays for half of the cost to port/make Wii-U games, and sends a small dev. team out to assist, this reduces the risk to the devs. slightly, and increases the chance of 3rd party games 100% !

I'm not getting an NX until they prove themselves. I did buy a Wii U but to be honest, that's because I feel like todays games aren't varied enough. You can't play Bayonetta 2 on a PS4. You can play Bayonetta on a 360 though, but does PS4 have anything quite like Bayonetta? That's the real reason I have a Wii U, just because the other systems are lacking so much. I don't know..

But if NX turns out to be another gimmick, I'm not getting it, at least not until it's dirt cheap and not in demand anymore.

My thinking also.

And I want true sequel to Super Mario 64, not 2.5D tube running ala Super Mario 3D World.
We already got a sequel to SM64; ever heard of New Super Mario Bros. Wii?

Um, no New SMB is nothing like SM64. But, Super Mario Sunshine and Galaxy 1 and 2 sorta are. I want the NX to be PS4/ Xbox One equivalent/ better and get all of the games that they get too. Much like GameCube. GameCube was actually had the highest specs of it's generation, and I believe the Wii U is supposed to be better than PS3/ Xbox 360. If the NX isn't as/ more powerful than PS4/ Xbox One, why not just keep making Wii U games? I love mine. And I love the GamePad. But it should be a little more optional than it is.

I'm a little confiused there as well.  I 've never consider NSMB to be a direct seqeul to Mario 64.

In fact, New Super Mario Bros. Wii was a sequel to New Super Mario Bros.

These

NSMB games are sequels to 2D Marios, I think more to SMB1 than the later ones even.

Sunshine, Galaxies, SM3DL and SM3DW are sequels of Mario 64, but are more 2D tube runners than open 3D Marios like SM64 is, hence I call them 2.5D.

So I want 3D Mario with wast open worlds where you can choose your route (and have to find the route and the goal).
Add some sort of clever exp system that little by little powers you up or gives you access to additional powers.
