Since my sample of the SEGA Genesis game case WITH the correct artwork sleeve should be here today/ tomorrow I am now focusing on the next game case!

N64!!!  ;D

These cases will do the following:

  • House all Standard N64 game carts
  • House the GameShark game cart
  • They will come in Dark Grey, and Clear.
  • The cases will be the same dimensions as the new NES cases. (The Booklet side and spine will actually be identical to the NES)
  • They will have a Memory Pak slot right above the game cart clips/slot, it will be able to hold all variations of the memory paks

AM I MISSING SOMETHING?  ???

The only variation with the N64 game carts is the GameShark v3 correct? Or is there another one I'm not aware of?

You scared me there for a second.  ;)

Just to clarify on the memory cards, are you going for an open space that would hold the card loose (like what SAG is doing with their cases)? I think you will have to do that since there were multiple types of memory cards in different sizes.

I also want to mention that when you design the clips that will hold the cart in place, keep in mind the different types of Everdrives that have SD card slots on the top (different locations for different versions). You wouldn't want a clip in the same spot as the SD card.

If your clips will hold it from the side, you probably won't have a problem (they will probably have to hold it from the side due to the curved top of an N64 cart). However, some Everdrive 64s also have a USB port off of the side, so you might have to take that into account as well.

Maybe I'm being too picky for something as unusual as an ED, but I'm just trying to get you to think about all possibilities.  ;D

If these cases have clips can they be a little loose? I'm afraid of putting my Gold Majora's Mask cart into a tight clip like the genesis cases because those damn carts are so fragile. Just maybe some food for thought to discuss for everyone?

Ooopps! Thanks! Corrected!  ;) And yes good point! I'll make sure the cases will have a good chunk of the top open (For those ED sd cards)

I hear ya there! I have the gold cart for Majora's Mask as well.  ;D and I agree! I'm thinking that we will have the pushing tabs in the back much like the NES cases have to accommodate the GameShark's protruding back. This should allow the game case clips to hold the standard carts nicely, yet not to snug.

I checked Ebay and all cards (not counting rumble packs as those are to big to fit the case anyway) and all seem to be same thickness and width only height is varying.

And one part of every memory card that has to be the same size is the part that slides inside the controller, so make some sort of slot where you slide the memory card in to.
Or maybe clips that hold from the side with one clip sliding in to the hole where the circuit board is.

Let me know if you need measurements.

Nice, I actually purchased a handful of different memory paks for the layout, I'm pretty sure they have come up with a design that will allow all variations! I should have a layout here in the next week or 2.

Well here we go again  ;D.

Memory pack option is an excellent choice, I think the same as Arseen, you should get them hold by the part that goes into the controller.

Don't think it will be easy to hold the cart from the side because of the round corner that n64 have. I think there must be a way to put them on top,  there must be a way without interfering with the sd of the ED. But in my opinion the ED option shouldn't stop the design. Sorry Tdi  ;) ;D  I know you like and collect guns, but distance is in my favor as I live in the Dominican Republic lol ;D :P

And I think everyone here have the gold majora's mask  ;D

Just joking lol  :P

I thought that you will really like the option of ED on this case but I think that there aren't too many people with that.  if the cartridge holders can go on the side it will be great for the ED,  but if not search for other options for the holder, like putting them on the upper part on the extreme side, if that doesn't work either, the UGC for the ED.

Though you get a little mad with that comment  ::) :P so I made that joke ;D

And no, if the Everdrive doesn't fit, it really won't matter much to me.  I'm realistic enough to know that you can't get 100% of all carts to fit, especially the extremely unique ones that a small percentage of people own.  I'm good with modding cases to keep my self covered with those rare exceptions.

I only mentioned it to give Shadowfox as many ideas as possible.  I know that he will try to include the ED if he can.

Your point about the curved sides of the N64 carts is a good one.  I didn't think about that.  The N64 cart will probably be one of the more difficult carts to hold in, but I know that Shadowfox will figure it out.

Do you still have that clear Pride case I sent you? Those were officially licenced by Nintendo. I thought they fit rather well and would give a good starting point to mold yours from.
