With regards to Superchops recent pickup...

I too, very coincidentally, just made a pickup including a white GBA and a bundle of games. Should be getting it in the next few days.

One of the games is even the same! :P

Picked these up over the last few months, but I've not been posting here. Been focusing on myself with a little bit of collecting mixed in. :)

The first picture was local pickups from Goodwill.

Second picture I found at one of the big Goodwill's while some friends were visiting (I dragged them along and they also got some things)

Third picture are some games a friend brought to me in exchange for my old nVidia Geforce 570 GTX graphics card and some RAM (unexpected, as I gave them card and RAM free). :)

Not Pictured: A spare slim PlayStation 2 that a buddy of mine at work brought in and gave me.

My Craigslist pickup and impulse buy from ebay.

The gameboy advance sp and finding nemo were an ebay purchase that I semi regret.  It was pretty beat up, has no charger and was bedazzled but I had bought it just because I assumed it was backlit and just wanted the screen anyway.  Unfortunately this wasn't one of them :( so it was a little lesson in making sure I do my research before making a purchase lol.  However, I don't have an sp in my collection so I just decided to buy a new shell and plug and just make the best of it.

The rest of the stuff was from a local guy on craigslist.  (story in the craigslist thread).  The white gba works flawlessly and is in really good shape.  The glacier one not so much.  It's pretty beat up and is missing the battery cover.  It also doesn't seem to read any game I put in.  I haven't taken it apart yet to clean it up but will do so when the new shell for that one arrives.  I'm hoping for the best but I knew the risks going into the purchase lol

The GBA is a pretty damned robust system. Of all of nintendo's non-DS systems, it is by far the toughest IMO. I think I have about 10-15 or so that couldn't be saved for one reason or another out of the hundreds that we modified over the last couple of years.  I'm willing to bet that a little love can get t working.

What are the issues you're experiencing?  I can help you diagnose and fix it if you'd like. I've repaired more than I'd like to count and there are only a few typical issues that they have which are very easily resolved with a couple of little tricks ;)

Besides not being backlit ; p The system seems to power up fine but just stays stuck on the boot up screen.  No matter what game I try none of them play.  The gameboy text comes up fine, sound is fine but then that's it.

That happened to me once and it was caused by filthy contacts. Hopefully I had a game boy cleaning kit. Worked like a charm :)

try using an old credit card/id/gift card and some very thin cloth with a few dabs of alcohol if you cant get or don't have a cleaning kit.

My in-laws went to Alaska for a trip and they brought this back for me.  Not bad.   :)

Also, I finally found one of these.  I had a chance to pick one up years ago for cheap and I passed, which I now regret.  But I finally found one for a descent price.

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

This existed before the Dual Analog / Dual Shock controller existed.  In fact, the original Dual Analog controller had an option to mimic this controller if you set the analog setting to green.  Only certain games are compatible with this, but there are many good quality games.  A list can be found on Wikipedia.

That's the first game I poped in to test it.  Good times indeed.  :)

This isn't my first time using one.  I had one a long time ago while playing Ace Combat 2, but I never owned it.  I don't remember how I got my hands on it, but I've always wanted one since then.  There are a few games on the compatability lst that sort of surprised.  MDK being one of them.  I'm not sure that MDK will be more enjoyable with this controller, but it's worth a shot.

GameStop was having a sale so, I order from them for the first time. Turned out to be an adventure.

The Skylanders are for my son and one of them is SwapForce. Well, GameStop sent the top half of the one that I ordered and the bottom half of another one. My son noticed it immediately and we took it to a local store who switched it out for the correct one. Ah well

Then I picked these up at a local retro store. My wife's old Nostromo is finally kicking the bucket after twelve years.

Got this earlier today, but I'm not sure it matters anyway because the downloading has stopped progressing past 52% so it might not finish until midnight.
