What did you have? I'm assuming a VW (but could be wrong though), I have a black on black 97 Jetta VR6 and I runs great! The down side is the previous owners did a horrible job of taking care of it. I've been slowly fixing it back up but it's turning into a money pit and have already way exceeded the value of the car and still need to put another $3000 just to get it back to stock looks and fix issues with it. Then I also drive a hoped up 88 Silverado (black or course lol) sadly cancer is starting to take over it and one of my X's wrecked it...

@Thom

Oh you bet. If I am able to get it and when, there will be loads of pics.  ;D

Those VR6s were interesting engines.

It was a 2006 VW Jetta TDI with the 5 speed manual.  It was a great car.  When I bought it, I was driving my V8 Ram 30k miles a year while getting 14 mpg (you can do the math there on fuel costs.... :-X).  So I bought the TDI which averaged 45 mpg for me over the years I owned it.  The car paid for itself in fuel savings and also keep a lot of miles off of my truck which I still own now.  The truck was only getting about 3k miles a year which was great.

Now, I'm only averaging about 12k miles a year (moved to a different state and found a job closer to home).  Also, the TDI was starting to cost me some money in repairs.  I typically do my own auto maintenance and auto repairs, but with my 1 year old son now, I just don't have time to be fixing something different each week.  I still do my own maintenance, but that's easier to plan around my schedule.  Basically, I couldn't justify the two separate vehicles.  But if one had to go, it had to be the TDI because I use my truck way too much to not have it.  And I love that truck.  It's my favorite vehicle I've ever owned.  I won't get rid of it until I can afford to get a 3/4 ton diesel crew cab.  I eventually want to get a 5th wheel camper, and I'll need the bigger truck to tow it.  But that will be many years down the road.

My VW was the first one I've owned, but my family has had many VWs.  My mom used to have a '97 Cabrio which would be pretty similar to your '97 Jetta.  She also had an '88 Cabriolet and currently has an '07 New Beatle Convertable.  She has loved each of her VWs, but I will say that VW really needs to work on their electrical issues.  19 years separate our oldest to newest VW and each one has had electrical issues.   >:(

How is your truck setup (cab, engine, drivetrain)?  I drove a '91 Chevy in high school, but that would have been a different body style than yours.  Mine was a '91 C1500 Cheyenne W/T.  Standard cab, long bed, 2WD, V6, stick shift.  It had A/C, but that was about it.  Pretty basic, but great high school vehicle.

Actually the 88 Silverado was the same body style as your 91. Mine is a standard cab short bed limited slip, 373 gears. It has a Jasper 700R4 tranny, 350 motor.  Sadly the really hopped up motor I had in it popped while driving home from work one day. The motor I have in it now isn't quite as powerful.

Pic found! (Just had a bath)

That was like 9 years ago though. It's got some rocker and bed cancer now.

Nice. ;D

Oh, I guess I got my years mixed up.  I loved that body style.  However, since mine was a W/T, I had the single large square headlights on each side which didn't look as good.

My favorite fact about that truck was that Silverado was a trim line until 1999.  I'm sure you know that, but most people don't.  I was at Auto Zone one time and a kid was working behind the counter.  Someone came in and was looking for a starter for a 95 Silverado.  The kid coudn't figure out why the comptuer wouldn't go back before 1999.  The owner didn't understand it either.  I told the kid he had to look under C/K Series.  The owner was dumbfounded that he techically drove a 95 Chevy K1500, and he just happend to have the nicer trim level of Silverado.

I always get a good laugh out of that.  People would also get confused about my truck since it wasn't a Silverado.  Mine was the trim level below that called Cheyenne.

Yes sir I did. Lol. Kids these days  :P. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) mine is considered a C1500 due to it being just a light duty daily driver pickup. But it is a badgeless Silverado. I still have some of the badges but they looked kinda gaudy. And some were just junk. In 90, my truck is what they called a Silverado Sport and came with different interior door panels, and also the SS which had a higher HP 350 or an even higher HP 454 motor. (Which the 454's were kid of junk in this truck, more motor than HP)

But ya, I'm gonna have a lot of work to do getting rid of this game stuff so I may not get the Sega CD model 1 repair guide done anytime soon...

From the picture, it looks like a C1500.  It's definately a 1500 based on the number of lug nuts on the wheel, and appears to be a "C" since it looks like it's 2WD.

I remember those 454 SS.   :o  7.4 liters sounds like a lot, but yeah, it wasn't as much horsepower as it seems like it should have been.  :P

And don't worry about the repair guide.  I'm like you, I have so much crap to do, I don't kow when I'll ever get around to fixing it, and as long as my Model 2 is working just fine, it will be low priority.

Good luck with your project.
