is there a new Wii U on the horizon?
JaredUnzipped:
Just my piddly two cents on the subject, considering I don't own a Wii U, PS4 or XBox One. My "newest" system is a standard Wii...
I'm the type of guy who waits to buy a modern console system until many years after it's been released. I'm an old school gamer, so new systems have to build up quite the library before I'm even interested in purchasing them. I am impressed with the quality of titles available currently for the Wii U. Sure, it's not a HUGE library, but it's enough to make the system worthwhile. The problem? I just can't justify paying $300+ for the Wii U. The price just isn't where I think it should be on a sheer personal level.
I really want to play the latest LEGO games -- Jurassic World, Batman 3, Marvel Superheroes, etc. I also want to play God of War III, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and a few other modern titles.
Long story short... I'm buying a new slim 500gb PS3 bundle. Thankfully, new games are still being published for the PS3 nearly a decade after it was first released -- that's incredible to say the least. The PS3's graphics are still very nice looking and there are a ton of great downloadable titles on the Playstation Network for it. All in all, it's a win-win decision -- more money in my pocket, I get to play new games and the PS3 functions as a BluRay Player / streaming media device.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm buying a last-gen PS3 over the current-gen Wii U. I've got a lot of love for Nintendo, but they need to lower their Wii U price before I consider hopping on board. Heck, I bet the NX will be out before I purchase a Wii U at this point.
Retro Deckades:
That's a smart decision, JaredUnzipped. The Wii U's price definitely is too high and, unlike the PS3, there is no way it will be supported anywhere near ten years. At this point, it's not exactly a great value.

I'm not going to quote that long spiel so here we go.

This little shindig could just keep going for a long time because you love the Wii U and I don't. Now let's make this clear. I don't love the Wii U. But I don't recall saying I hate the Wii U. Aight?
Ok. Yes that list is a logical comparison, and I'll tell you why. JUST BE AUSE ITS A SEQUAL DOESNT MEAN ITS A REHASH... And here is the deal, Fallout 4 is my deciding factor because if it's anywhere close to what I'm sure it will be. It's game of the year material. I have never been disappointed with a fallout ge ever since I played the first one when it came out. Hell I even go back and play 1 and 2 at least once a year.
Here's the deal. I can play these games you hold on high and run, jump on an enemy, brake a box through the whole game... OR I can be a good guy, kill some baddies, save some lives, make life better for people or a bad guy, mass murder everyone, steal everything or just quest, loot, buy and customize weapons and armor, own a house and pimp it out., have a pet, name it Steve or whatever. I get a nice long storyline, and many short stories. Characters can be relatable. And I'm sorry but saying that the same game being released on a different system than it was intended would make it a winner doesn't make any since. That's like saying butter isn't good on wheat bread but it's awesome on white.
It's like a book series. They may have the same titles but it doesn't mean you're reading the same book over and over and over.
Now Zelda games do have a story and some of the elements I've stated but OMG every console release starting with ocirina of time forward is junk. It's like watching snails race a mile. The characters are all bland or flamboyant and just nerve racking. On the other hand I really like the handheld Zelda games (excluding the remakes) because they are faster paced and you actually feel like your getting somewhere.
I don't hate any Mario game but you've got to be honest with yourself. They all have the same plot and you do the same exact thing almost all the time.
Now I'm sorry if you got your panties in a twist. But my feeling and mind are not going to be changed no matter what gets said. I'm not trying to make an enemy but just because you don't agree doesn't mean you (or I) are right. So this means I'm done arguing.
Again though, this is MY opinion about why I think it's better games. You can agree or disagree whether you understand or not, but to tell me I'm wrong about what I should like in a video game just dumbfounded me.
Games are meant to be fun, but a specific game is not fun for everyone.

Hey palmer6strings,
I've obviously seemed to have pushed some buttons here, which wasn't my intention. I was simply looking for some clarification regarding some of your stances and opinions, particularly the ones you appeared to be stating as fact. I just thought I'd challenge you on a couple of things and have you elaborate on others because I was trying to better understand your point of view (after all, this is a message board that's meant for discussion).
Having said that, I don't know that I understand every analogy you tried to make, but I definitely have a better understanding of what you value in games, which is story and more complex game play. Admittedly, the Wii U lacks many of those types of games. However, many of the games it does offer are great, but they just don't have what you're looking for. You seemed to present the argument that because Wii U games are not the types of games you enjoy playing, they are bad. That also implied that some genres of games are inherently better than others. With both of those thoughts, I completely disagreed. As you said, a matter of opinion.
Perhaps you didn't notice, but no where in my post did I say you were wrong about what you should like in video games. As I said, I was simply questioning your arguments. If you don't want to defend your opinion, that's fine, but it seems like if someone posts their opinion online they would expect that they may have to defend it. Preferably in a civilized manner refraining from personal attacks, which is mostly what has transpired here (at least I tried to do so on my part -- in no way was this meant to be a personal attack and I hope you didn't view it as such).

Ya, I apologize, I wrote that at 1 A.M. I was tired and some of that didn't come out right. I by no means was angry. Nor was I trying to be an asshole. I didn't mean that you specifically said I shouldn't like the games I think are good.
What I like is options and in depth storyline. That comes with me playing a lot of single player because I didn't have a lot of people around to play 2 player quick relaxed style of games.
It's nice to play a leisure game every once in a while but I don't stick with it long because I lose interest.
I should have worded what I was saying better and am sorry that I lashed out.
