Hello all,

I know some of you deal with and have quite a few reproduction SNES games, or repro's in general and you may have seen that recently that I have decided to delve into them for the first time.

I had seen pics of the ones the guy I went with had made and they looked great but I just wanted to see if the issues I have with the ones I have had turn up are things that often happen/inherent of getting them made by semi/non-professionals.

So, the games play great and the carts are legit donours with nicely made, sized, positioned and stuck on labels.........but then boxes have a lot of what I can only describe as "bubbling".

Seems like an ink issue? although surely these would have been laser printed so that doesnt make sense.........so could people who own some of these sorts of things, or perhaps even make their own, have a look at the pics below and tell me what you think before I go back to the guy.

My instincts are to have a bit of moan and say they are not up to scratch but again, I just wanted to see what you guys thought and if these kinds of issues are just the way it is with these sorts of things.

Cheers!..........ohh, and the first 2 pics looks fine of course, just wanted to show all 3 together but then there are close ups of the issues I have from there.

First thing that pops to mind is that they are printed on thin paper that is then glued on to card stock... and the gluing is done shitty.

That or the cardstock just can't handle the amount of ink the printer is using, ask him to reduce the print quality just a bit or find bit sturdier cardstock (one with thicker white side).

PM me where you got these.

Those boxes are pretty bad. My guess is he is either using a label sheet placed over cardboard or (more likely) he is gluing paper onto cardboard. He either used too much glue, didn't pull it tight enough or the paper he was using wasn't thick enough to properly absorb the ink (probably crappie inkjet).

Overall lazy job. Look at the "made in japan" legal text. He didn't type that info. It was cut from something and just used the magic wand to get rid of most of the old color.

I didn't see that until I read this.  Wow.   ::)
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

The rear text seems to be just copy/pasted from game faqs or something too.  Doesn't read like a proper box. Not great.

Thanks guys, and you are ALL of course right and feeling the exact same way as I did/do about them........I just wasnt sure whether it was me being overly picky.

I didnt mention the lazy photoshopping back text stuff, as it was the least of my concerns in terms of asking what you guys thought..........just really the quality of the construction.

But yeah, some lazy photoshopping in places and ALSO (this might perhaps be the worst part for me actually! lol)..........there are NO game logos on the spines for Starfox 2 and Rendering Ranger!!!!  :o :o :o

Didnt show photos of that for the same reason I didnt mention the non-filled in text but man, it really f*cking bugs me looking at them on my shelf with just a blank god damned side of a box.........I could certainly live with the other issues in all honesty, so long as I could display them properly and they looked like they semi-belonged with my other boxes.  :(

So, of course, I was going to be emailing him regardless.......but now I can mention all your thoughts and suggestions, so many thanks for that!.........I might actually ask him to send me the damned images so I can make them a hell of a lot better! or at least how I want them.  ;D

Shall let you guys know, ohh and here is the guys Facebook and Ebay page (Also, remember, I paid £30/$46 each for these, so I guess you get what you pay for huh.  ::) ) =

Well he does have a picture of "blank boxes" on his facebook. So it looks like it's a bad gluing issue.

No logos on the sides?  What's the point in even doing boxes of they aren't going to play nicely with the rest of your collection.

Send him to read this thread if he's in any doubt over what's wrong with them.

I was thinking that Sheep! lol.........but then I feel like I have perhaps insulted him a little here.  :-[

I will send him an email and see how he responds.......I mean again, I could live with the bubbly boxes if it werent for the lack of spine logo's because, as you say and I feel, it renders the whole buying a box completely pointless.

I might as well as just bought the carts on their own and then printed UGC covers for them!.......at least then I could get rid of ropey photoshop work, text and missing images/elements.

Whoops, just passive aggresively insulted him again.  :D

It's not about insulting him or dragging his name through the mud. He did that to himself by passing those junky boxes onto a paying customer. He can make it right by redoing them properly or refunding you, or be known for shoddy work.

True.......but you know what its like with this sort of thing, from his perspective he has put a lot of time and effort into these (and I dont doubt that he has) but the issues here are just due to his inexperience perhaps.

And of course, I should not have to pay for that......but equally, he has not charged anywhere NEAR what these would normally sell for, so although he may not say it explicitly, I imagine it might come down to a "Well, you did essentially pay a 3rd of what these sell for".

Never the less, I will be emailing him......Ill say everything we have said here, and see how it goes.

Thanks again guys, really appreciate your speedy input.
