I'm just curious but what's the reason you went with a panel mount instead of an inline fuse holder. Either way great tutorial :) |

I went with a panel mount because it is a pretty common problem for BOTH Sega CD systems to blow fuses. And if it ever happens again, it takes me only a minute (literally) to change and this way, nothing is just laying around inside the system.. Compared the model 1 I'd say a good 30 minutes to change and 10 minutes to change in a model 2. Plus the panel mount I used, I think it actually looks like it's supposed to be there. It's almost the same color and fits flush to the system. But that's my opinion. It really baffles me how they didn't fix this same problem in both models of system. And thank you. Hopefully I'll have time to do the model 1 system write up soon. |

I finally had time to actually read through the walkthrough. I enjoyed that very much. ;D Now I kind of want to get my model 1 done pretty soon. Maybe I'll take a stab it it this week. Now to find a Radio Shack. We don't have many left in this area. :-\ |

Awesome, Glad you enjoyed it! The model 1's board is long and narrow. There is a lot of stuff to take apart around that board also. |

I bought my model 2 with the repair already done on Ebay but after a month of using it the fuse blew again. The guy didn't even put a fuse holder in it he just soldered wires directly to the fuse >:( Luckily I'm pretty decent at soldering and I repaired it plus put a holder in it and its going strong. If the fuse does blow again I think I'll install a panel mount though. |
