I have a ton of games, but my scanner has... issues. I can't seem to figure out how to adjust it so the colors are as close to the original image as possible. The included software is awful, and Photoshop / Paint Shop Pro's color features confuse me.

Is there any software out there that can help me calibrate my scanner's color levels?

(Sorry, I'm new here, and didn't know where else to ask.)

Post a screenshot of your scanning software and maybe we can help. (print screen usually does the trick)

Ah, whoops. :p

I have two scanners - a Visioneer 6100 USB, and a Canon LIDE 30. I use the included scanning software for both. (Visioneer Scan Manager for the former; I forget about the latter, I don't have it installed at the moment, but the drivers say that it's called ScanGear CS 7.0.)

While the Canon is better at scanning boxes, it sucks at scanning discs because it uses a blue / greenish LED instead of the older lightbulb scan type. And the Visioneer is great at scanning everything but the brightness is always different between the preview and the final scan for some reason.

(My Visioneer's scan window. Please forgive the scan in the preview. I also made this a link, the picture's kinda wide.)

If you need more info, don't hesitate to ask. :)

the first thing that stands out is the resolution setting is at 200 dpi - try upping that to 600 for any images you want to play with, or at least 300 for a final cover.

I usually scan at 600 DPI, the scanner's at 200 DPI because I was scanning that comic in the screenshot.

I suppose there's no program out there that can help me calibrate this thing, then? :(

what about descreen on the advanced settings - that should help too.

I used to have a visioneer one touch, and the bundled software worked just fine

I know there's some apps for Linux and probably Windows too, but I've never used any. A quick Google search for scanner software came up with lots of results. Just be wary of malware and look at some reviews I guess.
