I finally caved and just ordered an Analogue Nt.  I am beyond excited for it.  This opens up the option of playing Famicom games for me.  I have a friend going to Japan in 2 weeks and I have some money to give to him so he can find some games for me while he is there.  I cannot read Japanese so games like RPGs are out of the question, but i mostly would love to have games that didn't come over here that are just fun to play. Any recommendations?

Most of my favorites are FDS games which the Analogue NT won't help you with.  That's why I went the Everdrive route since if supports FDS games including game saves.

For the record, you can run a FDS through the Analogue NT, but you would still need a FDS with all cables and hookups.  Boy would I love to have one of those.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Yeah I realized I may have to end up getting a FDS as well, so feel free to give me any recommendations for that as well.  I know absolutely nothing about any of these games so any recommendations are welcome.

Well the US version of Super Mario Bros 2 is my favorite video game of all time.  With a FDS, you could play the Japanese version called Doki Doki Panic. It's basically the same game with different sprites.  You can also play the actual Japanese Super Mario Bros 2 in the original graphics.  We only got the "Lost Levels" version with updated SNES graphics.  You also will have access to Final Fantasy I through III.  The US skiped II and III (which is why FF IV on the SNES was called FF II in the US).

I have repro NES carts with Final Fantasy 2 and 3 ;). I know it is not the same but that is how I played them.

from what little knowledge of the system and the games I have this is the list I made so far:

Famicom:
Atlantis no nazo

FDS:
Doki Doki Panic
Super Mario Bros. 2
whatever the legend of Zelda is called
whatever the hell Zelda 2 is called in Japanese (Zelda 2 is my favorite NES game so I want the FDS version)

I think those two Zelda games are called "The Hyrule Fantasy: Zelda no Densetsu" and "The Legend of Zelda 2: Link no Bouken."

I'd say get a wholesale lot from eBay, that's what I did. 170 games at around $1.30 or something each.

I also got a fun Splaterhouse game for it. And a good version of Pac Man that plays well with The Advantage.

Will that work with the Analogue NT?  For what they charge, it better.

Yes it does.  Shit I'll add that to the list too, that is the only reason I'm getting Castlevania 1-3.  Ok no more of games that came out here.  Any other suggestions???
