Windows 8.1 to Windows 10
palmer6strings:
I don't want to update just because I'm afraid some of my music recording programs won't work or play well with 10. Would anyone be willing to test a few games on 10 for me? :P
Fallout games (All of them!!)
Arcanum
Star Wars kotor (both)
Starbound
Minecraft
Terraria
I know those last 3 will most likely have no problems but you never know.

Our Son has arrived! ;D we've had him for a week now. I am exhausted and so is my Wife. I won't have time for tcp right now.
Babies are alot of work. holy shit-ake mushrooms. I'll try to finish projects when i have free time and need to relax. for now, free time is for sleeping. I think that we slept 8 hours in four days. Anyway, all is good.
Regarding Windows 10: no thanks.
first of all, i like the start screen. I have no idea why everyone keeps shitting their diapers over it. id est, whiny little babies. I love that i don't have collapsing menus/cascading menus of the old start button menu. I always miss and have to start over or Windows has a hiccup and closes the menu. I hate the start button menus; they are so outdated. I am really surprised how everyone acts like an entire screen is so difficult. Just press the windows key on the keyboard. man-oh-man. I like Windows 8.1.
Microsoft has a tendency to add new spy gates to each OS release. I see how they decided to handle new ideas in the future: forced updates. interesting. So you have the start button back but you'll probably miss the loads of espionage going on all over the system. I hate the idea of Cortana. Now you want to identify me by voice. I suppose Nintendo could use this against me in a court of law because Cortana logs me commanding it to search for a raw scan.
I am finishing the Windows "experience" with 8.1. Linux is my new OS unless MS reinvents itself with Windows 11 or 2016.
off to feed the Baby. Hope you enjoy Windows 10 like I enjoy Open SUSE and Windows 8.1.

For those concerned about the mandatory updates:
1) That only applies to Windows 10 Home edition
2) They can, in fact, be disabled, albeit in a stupid way. http://reviews.gizmodo.com/heres-the-incredibly-hacky-way-to-disable-windows-10-up-1720768012

I upgraded, it's pretty cool. I like it so far.
Wasnt a fan of their start menu though, so I picked up Start10 and got the windows 7 style menu.
I haven't tried all my apps yet but everything seems good so far.
I'll try some of those games Palmer and I'll post how well they work. (if they do lol)

i just did a clean install of Windows 10 and only ran into one speed bump. So far all my Razer programs work, Steam install from Windows 7 back when i installed it on my hard drive in 2012, Fallout 3 ran after i installed Games for Windows Live, and 90% of my laptop drivers installed. If i run into anything else i will post my problems
