I'm looking for retail (or close as possible) NTSC DVD covers with black spines for the following. Here's an example of what I'm looking for. https://www.dropbox.com/s/876k5hr3q4hrz54/dc_crazytaxi_7.jpg?dl=0

NFL 2K2
NHL 2K
Shenmue
Soul Calibur
Space Channel 5

Since these are already available in the white spine format, I could probably convert these over to the black spine.  However, I would need a template to start with, and I cannot find one.  If you or anyone else can link to the basic black spine template, I can take a shot at converting these for you.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Correction:  It looks like the Dreamcast template in the Guides section might have an option for black spine.  I can't check it right now since I don't have any version of Photoshop on this computer (and I don't have time to do that right now anyway).  I'll look into it this evening and see what I can do.

Yeah, there is an option in the template. I tried dropping the existing white/orange spines into it but, on each of these five, there is an item such as a logo or the title that gets partially obscured by the black part on the face of the label. I just don't have the skills to try and move them myself as they're already flattened in the jpg.

First of all, let me start by saying that I'm not a cover admin for a reason.  ;)

Second, the difficult part of this project is that the black and white templates do not have the same size arch on the front (which I incorrectly assumed that they would).  This means that it's not as simple as cutting and pasting the old cover onto the new template.  Therefore, what I did was change the white part of the front cover to black.  The downside to this is that the black cover will not be exactly uniform to the black template.  I've made two covers below and I thought I would show them to you first before making the rest.  If you are ok with it, I can probably knock the others out in an evening.

Please let me know about any issues you may see so that I can fix them now before making any more covers.  Please feel free to be picky.  You won't hurt my feelings.  However, please keep in mind that I'm using artwork from pre-existing covers and if there are issues with the artwork itself, there won't be much I can do about it.  I'm looking for feedback on formatting issues, and small details like logos or anything like that.

So for now, here is what I have.

NFL 2K2

NHL 2K2

The black template should entirely cover up the white template if you put it over top of it. Is it not lining up?

It does completely cover the white template, but it also covers up too much of the original artwork (in my opinion).  I can use free transform to narrow the original artwork to fit, but then it will appear stretched and the arch will still not properly line up.

There is nothing wrong with the black template.  I just think that new front artwork would be needed which I don't have access to (or the skills to alter the original).

For example.

On the NFL 2K2 cover, I can move the original cover over to the template and place it below every layer on the front.  If I switch the black layer on, everything lines up pretty well except for the "Online Multiplayer" logo.  Since it's on the original artwork, it needs to blend over the black curve.  Now my normal cheat for this is to just use the "Online Multiplayer" layer and place it over the logo on the original artwork.  However, this will interfere with the Dreamcast logo on the black curve.

Gotcha, yeah the online logo is in a weird spot on some of those DVD covers. I would always put mine at the top

http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=9548
http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=9773
http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=9775

I would do the same.

If I had the original psd files, it would be a lot easier (assuming the logo was it's own layer in the original).

Yeah, those two look great. I didn't think about changing the white arc to black in the template. Lumberjack24 originally made the black spine covers and I messaged him a week ago but, I haven't heard anything back.  I thought it was strange that the two arcs (black and white) weren't the same size.

Thanks.  I'll try to knock the others out tonight.  Most of the work was in revising the template to fit with what I was trying to do.  I should be able to do the others pretty quickly.

Great, I really appreciate it. As a side note, the NHL title is 2K, not 2K2.
