It feels like Nintendo gave us what we wanted.... just not in the way we wanted.

Want a new Zelda? Have a co-op puzzle game!
Want a new Metroid? Have a multi-player arena game!
Want a new Animal Crossing? Have a board game... don't worry guys, it will support Amiibo!

The documentary bits for the origin of Star Fox also looked very familiar. Not the footage perhaps, but the story behind it. The interview attached to Yoshi's Woolly World is something I think I've seen in Game Informer or something. Either way, neither seemed like the kind of thing you'd show at E3.

Xenoblade Chronicles X though, looked really cool. The kind of thing you could show someone, and they'd be like 'there's NO WAY that's a Wii U game!' Nintendo needed more games like that. What they needed less of? Puppets.

It feels like Nintendo gave us the usual teasing, stone faced lying, pompous, arrogant bitch slap to the face.... just they way we like it and have become accustomed too.

Hope you dont mind but I fixed the first line of your post there to make it more akin to what happened.  ;D

Nintendo fans are like the beaten partner in an abusive relationship...........we continually get treated like shit, neglected and sucker punched when we least expect it........but the occasional glimpses of redeeming qualities makes us forget all that and profess to those that ask why we put up with it "Because I love them!".

Although, after yesterday's abuse..........I might now have acquired the strength for a divorce.  >:(

I dont know man.........never felt THIS abused and alone............should have stayed with my "old partner" and now I genuinely feel like going back to them.

(Metaphor equals = hadnt been current gen with Nintendo since 1998, so should have stayed with and focussed on era's and games I know were done right, and only get into modern stuff once it has died a death and become cheaper).

While I don't really have an opinion either way on this, I will say that Nintendo DID announce that there would be no new Zelda Wii U footage or news at this year's E3...so anyone who was surprised by this shouldn't have been.  Should they have?  Probably.  But at least they didn't leave people dangling and then not bring the goods...as they have done in the past.

That metaphor was interesting.  I own muiltiple consoles from many generations, but which one was the FIRST one that I picked up?  It says a lot about your loyalties.
  2nd     Atari 2600
  3rd      Nintendo Entertainment System
  4th      Super Nintendo Entertainment System
  5th      Sony PlayStation
  6th      Sony PlayStation 2
  7th      Sony PlayStation 3
  8th      ???????

As you can see, I haven't really been a Nintendo guy since the SNES.  However, I still think that I will own a Nintendo Wii U before any other system in this generation.  It's just that since even Nintendo isn't really giving me what I want, I might just wait until the generation is over and pick one up when it becomes cheap
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

If you think Nintendo's Digital Event this year was that bad then I'm inclined to think you've never seen their 2008 press conference.

It certainly wasn't their best show, but they showed a few interesting games releasing before next E3. Microsoft and Sony delivered far bigger announcements, but many of those likely won't be released for years.

There was an article a few months ago about the rumored "NX."  I believe Nintendo has confirmed that it's already working on a new system, but they have not said anything more, so we don't know if it will replace the Wii U or the 3DS.  My theory is that it will replace BOTH.  In other words, it's a portable system that works with your full screen TV.  I think Nintendo is going to try to consolidate the home and portible markets into one.

They talked about the NX at LAST YEARS E3!! which is where the doom and gloomers really kicked in for the Wii U............now they shall ramp up even more.

Also, TDIrunner...........were speaking about MY "loyalties" with this comment =

"That metaphor was interesting.  I own muiltiple consoles from many generations, but which one was the FIRST one that I picked up?  It says a lot about your loyalties."

Or just speaking generally about how your first console tends to dictate loyalties?

I hope its the later as there are many things people can call me in life without me giving a crap but honest and loyal are not either ones I would accept being labelled as.

As for my own first console/s, it was also the Atair 2600, then a Commodore 64, then a Master System, THEN a SNES.......from there I owned every Nintendo console but usually behind the times, mixed in with PS1, PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360 and a DC recently.

So I am no Nintendo ONLY collector but they are always where my heart and passion lies.

Oh GOSH no. Nintendo PLEASE don't make a tablet. You're a VIDEO GAME company not a freaking weak mobile phone game maker.

Just to clarify, they did not mention NX during last year's E3. It was discussed during an investors' meeting not too long ago.

It was inteded to be read as "ones" loyalties.  In other words I wasn't referring to anyone at all.  In fact, I should have just left that last sentance out.  I was only saing that you made me think about which system was the first for me from each generation.  In my example you can see I grew up with a 2600, but swithced to Nintendo once the NES came out.  I continued with Nintendo for gen 4 despite the awesomeness of the Genesis, however, my preferences changed over to Sony in gen 5.  I stuck with Sony ever since and the N64 and GC were both purchased after those systems were disontinued.  For gen 7, I purchases a PS3 FIRST.  However, I still liked what Nintendo was doing enough to purchase a Wii while the system was still in production (the first time I ever bough multiple systems during any generation).  With the current gen, I haven't purchased anything yet, but if I had to choose today, it would be Nintendo.  However, it's possible that this will be the first generation that I might not buy ANYTHING until after the generation has ended (not counting gen 1).

Anyway, sorry if what I wrote came accross differently than how it was intended.  Sometimes what I write doesn't match up with what I'm thinking.
