The first one had Megaman 1-8......plus 2 previously unreleased outside of Japan games.
So cant really get excited about a "collection" I already have a better version of from 10 years ago...........what are they going to do? improve the graphics? ::)
And no physical release? no Wii U port.........GTFO Crapcom...........completely send MegaMan down the river and THIS nerfed piece of crap is your peace offering to fans after all these years of neglect?
Complete half assed joke Im afraid.

This is exactly what I though when I read about this.
Why the fuck release inferior version? ???
Does not compute!

What extras? That port completely pissed me off. It was a straight port with no features, no new menus ... nothing. They were so lazy they didn't even stretch the resolution to fit a 4:3 ratio. It is just a standard 1:1 ratio. Almost every emulator simulates the stretch but for some reason Nintendo decided not to include that in their coding.

So this is an interesting step toward something that few have done. Typically you don't see NES games leave the nintendo space as companies would need to emulate them and that doesn't tend to go over well with nintendo since they sell emulated versions. So this is actually people porting the games from the ground up onto new hardware, most importantly X86 hardware. In doing so they will have an engine where they could easily port future games or create new ones. You may say that the NES games have gotten plenty of releases on phones, the anniversary collection or on the playstation... but in each case these were rebuilding the games instead of just running the roms. The playstation games are what the anniversary collection is based off of and they are not near perfect ports with the music breaks on the NES titles. Mega Man 7 had the ending removed in that collection too I believe. The PS2/GC/Xbox collections were actually pretty bad.
The closest thing that this would fall into are the Retro engine version of Sonic games that have been released on IOS, Android, and PC where an engine was made and the games were ported to the engine. Sadly it doesn't sound like they are approaching reasons why those were neat by providing options like true widescreen support.
I hope this gets Mega Man 9 and 10 to steam as they need to exist on a download service that might exist in 10 years.
