Hopefully I'm not getting annoying by making all of these new topics within the span of two weeks, but I do have a question regarding collecting. I'm starting to get into the PS2 more and more, but I only have around 30 games and they're pretty obvious choices for the most part (Okami, Final Fantasy, Battlefront). I've been wondering if anyone here who has more experience with the older generations of consoles has some recommendations for games that are good and not horribly expensive? I'm into pretty much anything, but picky with RPGs.

As far as the price thing, I'm thinking anything that's under the $30-40 mark. I've seen Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner and the .hack games in the local store lately, but they seem to be way out of my price range. Well, Devil Survivor isn't, but I don't know anything about SMT aside from the "every game is extremely different" thing.

Thanks in advance for any input

I am assuming that you have the Sly cooper series for PS2 or Sly collection for the Playstation 3.

I would recommend some of the following as a fellow PS2 Gamer:

Bloodrayne 1 & 2
Star Wars Racer Revenge
Primal
Cold Fear
The Thing
Enter the Matrix
Gauntlet Dark Legacy
Ghost Rider
All of the old GTA's
Legacy of Kain Series
Max Payne 1 & 2
Metal Gear Solid 2
Ratchet and Clank 1, 2, 3
Red Dead Revolver
Red Faction 1 & 2
RTX Red Rock
Rune
Spawn Armageddon
The Punisher
The Terminator: Dawn of Fate
Transformers *
Twisted Metal Black
X2: Wolverine's Revenge

Most of these are fairly cheap to find.  I hope this helps!

Saw a couple others that caught my eye. Does anyone know anything about Fatal Frame? I've heard of it and seen some footage but I don't really know anything about it. Also coming to mind is the Shin Megami Tensei games. I don't know a thing about the PS2 ones.

I would definitely recommend the following:
James Bond 007 in Agent Under Fire
  007 Nightfire
  Medal of Honor Frontline
  Medal of Honor Rising Sun
  Metal Gear Solid 2
  Metal Gear Solid 3
  Gran Turismo 4
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

I have Rising Sun and the MGS games, they're currently on my backlog (working on MGS1). Is Gran Turismo too hardcore of a simulator though? I've tried Forza which claimed to be the same way and wasn't too hot on how complex it got.

Perhaps if you're not into that sort of thing, but I have always loved the GT games and I've played through all of them except for 6 which I just haven't bought yet.

The way I see it, they are usually cheap enough used that there is no reason not to have it in your collection.

And I much prefer GT to Forza or any other sim racing game.

Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution.  It's dirt cheap, and it's probably the best fighting game of the generation.  I remember it getting nearly perfect reviews when it came out.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2

How are the Mortal Kombat games on ps2? I know that MK seems to have an iffy lineup sometimes. Also considering Persona if they aren't too pricey.

Ico and Katamari are worth looking into though so I'll check them out.

If you want to get the SMT games (including Persona 3 and 4) check out Amazon. They were rereleased a few years back and are between $15-$20 new.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 is still probably my favorite racing game of all time.

Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War is my favorite flight sim of all time. But seriously, all the PS2 era Ace Combat games are good.

And GTA Vice City and San Andreas are both great.

You can get a ton of quality PS2 titles on the cheap right now.
My DS Cover Requests: Anno 1701, A Witch's Tale, A Witch's Wish, Black Sigil, Dynasty Warriors, Flower Sun and Rain, Mage Knight Destiny's Soldier, n+, Time Ace
