I have an idea and I would like peoples opinion on it....
I've been thinking how the site has all the Nintendo 64 game cases now and we are working on getting all the cart stickers.....but what about the Game Manuals??? I've seen a hand-full of them in PDF file, but with all due respect I can't print them... What do you think of this:

1.) Take your Game Manual and disassemble it (take out the staples and so forth)
2.) Then scan each sheet front and back.
3.) After you scan them touch them up like you would for a case.
4.) Next up load them to the site and just keep the scans in order.

That way when someone wants to print out a Game Manual they print the first sheet on one side and the second sheet on the opposite side of the paper. Then all you gotta do is cut the excess page, place the pages in order, put two staples where the spine will be, fold the papers and BAM! You got your self a brand new Game Manual!

...And this idea isn't only for N64 but ALL the Consoles...

So! .......What do ya think????

This would take an unimaginable amount of work, not to mention the amount of Gigs it would take up on the site.

it would be possible to also scan the individual pages and then re-assemble them with photoshop or whatnot

but it would definitely be a lot of work to scan them...

printing would be rather easy (or VERY easy if you have a duplex printer)

it's a good idea but not very practical...

for one thing not everyone has a stapler big enough to staple the pages together (for some stuff)

The problem which comes in my mind first besides the huge amount of work is that I wouldn't want to take my manuals apart....

Pretty much.  Sure it'd be nice to have as a resource, but the amount of work required is better spent on getting new covers right now.

I think in a lot of cases you're just better off paying for the manual off eBay, or something.  You can find a lot of cheap manuals there for people who lost their games.

Hmmm.... is there a way that you can create a section where once people like me, scan their own Manuals, and then touch them up, they can up load them to a common area (Like we have the Raw Cover Scans) and when ever one of the Admins have the time, they just go to the section, review the ready Manuals, then up load the ones that passed? Is that a possibility?

...I personally would have no problem dissembling my game Manuals, and I have a little bit of GC, GBA, GBC, GB, and SNES....

P.S. Also, on a side note, if a cover is submitted and it fails to pass the quality, do you notify the person who created it to let them know it didn't pass?

Thanks! ;)

Unfortunately it would be too much work to notify everyone if one cover off them fails.... If it is deleted from the upload queue and not published it failed the quality check.....

Although the site doesn't let you upload stuff like pdf manuals, as far as I can tell admins can. So if something passes quality check and you pulled a few strings you could get it to be an official upload.

I do actually if the person who created it is active on the forum. There are a lot of uploads from people who never made a single post here. They still might be reading the forums but I won't send any PMs just because they might be reading it. It's just too much work.

Hmm... okay, I up loaded two covers about a month ago, one was a custom cover for Zelda on GC and the other was a SNES Sim City with shenske's new SNES Template is there any way to see if they are still "Pending" or are they deleted? (And if they are deleted, could I get some pointers on what I did wrong.)

Thank You Again!   ;D

That's an intesting idea, even though a standard PSX/PS1 Game manual fits into a DVD case just fine.

I don't see them in the upload queue on the ftp. At least not listed under your name. So either they're on an admin's HDD and are pending or they have been deleted. I can't tell you what was wrong with them since I didn't check them :(

Thanks KaiserWAVE, The two covers where under "B-rain" (Brian is my brother, he's the one who did the covers for me.) If they're not there let me know, and I'll re submit them. :-)

The Zelda cover is there, Sim City isn't.
