Nintendo World Championships 2015

On May 30, select Best Buy locations in major cities around the country will host qualifying tournaments for the Nintendo World Championships, which were last seen in 1990. The winners from each regional event, plus competitors invited by Nintendo, will meet on June 14, at the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles for a multi-round Nintendo game competition. In the end, one player will be crowned the 2015 Nintendo World Champion. Fans in Los Angeles will have the opportunity to attend the tournament, while others can watch online. More details about the qualifying tournaments will be shared in the coming weeks.

TDIRunner:

Interesting.  Will this be made up of three modern games from the Wii U, or will this be a rehash of the original three games?

shenske:

That is pretty cool. I am also curious what games they want people to play. If they do decide to do modern games it would be smart to have newly released games marketing wise. Something like Splatoon, 200cc Mariokart 8 and maybe one sneak peak level of Yoshi's Wooly World. How great would that be if they sold this "NWC2015 tournament" compliation on disc. Maybe $20 to $30 since it would be a glorified demo anyway.

If they have this in Denver i may try and make the trip. I scheduled myself to work that day but i may be able to squeeze it in.  :)

It's not happening in my state I guess :(

Is it bad that I want the competition to look like this?  :P
