It works I try playing a burn copy of street fighter and the panzer general that came with it and both work. About the selling I don't really know how much they sell for (console only).
Nobody really new it was a console at the goodwill that's why I think it was so cheap... :)

I also got mine at a Goodwill, It was mixed in with the DVD players. I did a double take when I saw it, because we never get stuff like that at mine. I guy was holding and looking at it, he put it down and I immediately snatched it. I think it was 35$, system only. I got a controller off line, and the RCA are standard, and the plug is hard wired.

It was a Goldstar, and I kind of want a Panasonic model, it looks nicer.

Same thing happened with my CD-i. It was the top loader version with a presentation controller (the one that looks like a spoon).  Somebody had it in their cart when I saw it.  Which, of course, depressed me.  Then I heard the guy say to his wife/gf/sister/female acquaintance - "that looks like an old shitty player, at least get one with a wireless remote".  At that point they put it back on the shelf and I grabbed it.  I don't remember the exact price, but it was like $10 or so on sale.  Sadly, I think the days of finding these things in goodwill is dwindling.  My local goodwill has a few employees now who know about games, so a ds or PS2 that would have sold for $10 or $20 is now being priced between $50 and $150 (depending on the system).  Sucks.

My monthly pickups were not too bad.  I picked up:

Intellivision (old wood grain version)
Intellivision - Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Treasure of Tarmin (CIB)
Intellivision - Burgertime
Atari 2600 - H.E.R.O.
