Isopropyl Alcohol, some 1-tips, and a pink eraser always worked pretty well for me. Brasso was always a last resort and I've only had to use it a few times in cleaning thousands of games. You may have to do the isopropyl+eraser method a few times, but it does work pretty well. |

I've used WD40 on a qtip with success on dirty cart contacts. Is WD40 ok? |
| Quazimoto:
I've used WD40 before. Never really cared for it. No particular reason really. I did kind feel like it left a bit of a residue, but that might just be me being paranoid. Honestly, Brasso works best as far as cleaning just about any amount of grime from contacts, but it is pretty abrasive, so I only ever use it when it's absolutely needed. The Isopropyl and eraser methods is the overall best thing I've found though. Cheap, easy, isopropyl dries with zero residue, and it cleans pretty well with a little elbow crease thrown in. |

I tried alcohol, didn't want to try something too abrasive. anyway the original owner is having me send it back to him for an exchange. I probably shouldn't be so un-trusting of the guy but I don't know him so that's where my problem is but he seems like an honest guy. I've just been burned many times. Anyways looks like the guy is taking care of it. Thanks for the replies guys. |

You'll probably have to be abrasive to make it work properly. |
