I get your frustration, but I think this is unlikely since they will not be selling the old retro stuff out of the stores.  Since they are keeping everything in their warehouses and selling online, I wouldn't think space would be that much of an issue.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

So how many games and how much equipment will they be destroying once they assess that they "don't work" to prevent dumpster divers "reselling garbage"? What happens when they have a tight grip on the used market because your Average Joe figured it's easier to sell to Gamestop than on eBay or Craigslist? I don't like Gamestop as is. It's already hard for retro stores to last in my area. This would prevent future stores from ever even bothering.

Personally, I can tell you this -- I won't be buying any retro games from GameStop. There's no guarantee that you'll be receiving boxes and/or manuals with any of the games you purchase. That's not such a big deal if you're buying from a private seller, Amazon or off eBay; you know exactly what you're receiving. From GameStop, you'll have no idea what's coming your way. Much less, I don't want GameStop to control the retro game aftermarket. The less retro game collectors/players purchase GameStop, the better off our hobby will be in the long run.

You can return any game, so it's not really a big deal if it comes without a box or manual. At the very least you'll get a cart, and most of their prices are pretty standard for cart only. Some are a bit high, some normal.

I don't think they can 'control' the retro market. I don't know what you mean there or by the hobby being better off. I don't think there's anything wrong with the hobby currently. I get that people want prices to go down, but retro games are going to be popular whether Gamestop is in our out.

I'm not a defender of gamestop, I just don't see an issue with more people getting into the hobby or another avenue through which to get games.
