I completely agree! However, I'm fairly certain that the new packaging is only for the Wal-Mart check out lane versions. I've seen Olimar and others in the old packaging in many other pictures around the web.

The Walmart ones are not Wave 3, Wave 3 has the old packaging and contains these characters:
I have an Olimar, Mario and Luigi from this wave.

Thanks for the offer, larry! However, I managed to pick up both Wario and Waluigi at Toys R Us (mentioned in my post above).
