I like being able to play on a gamepad while my son or girlfriend uses the Xbox and vice versa. I think the gamepad is pretty neat and has some cool uses in Captain Toad, Super Mario 3d World, and Kirby Rainbow Curse. Drawing and pulling out platforms and blowing windmills to activate bridges were creative uses of the pad.

I love the new Mario Kart also when it doesn't kick me out of a race on the rare occasion I'm leading (this has happened a few times while I'm in first and makes me throw a fit). Also, if you don't want to play it on pc, there's avgn. This game rocks.

Wii U has Captain Toad, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Game and Wario, Hyrule Warriors, Kirby Rainbow Curse, Lego City Undercover, Mario Kart 8, NES Remix Pack, NSMB/NSLB, Nintendo Land, Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends (multiplatform, but the gamepad makes the WiiU version unique), Super Mario 3d World, Super Smash Bros, Tank Tank Tank, and Zombi U. If you're not really into Nintendo exclusives then there's not much reason to get a Wii U. I'm a huge Halo nut, but Halo MCC is a mess so I held off on the Xbone. All of the Wii U games work pretty well out of the box. The ones that do take updates don't take hours like the Xbox1.

It's all about exclusives and what YOU want to play. I like Nintendo and have a 6 year old so for me the WiiU is perfect. I usually don't play a ton of games. I rotate between 3 or 4 I really like, with the odd storymode campaign experience thrown in. Eventually, I'll get a Xbox1 to play Halo and Gears of War, but from what I've read, that system needs some work still before I'd be happy with it.

Edit: there's also Bayonetta 2

What makes that Wii U system worth buying as there very few exclusive games that have been released for this system?

You could ask the very same question for both the PS4 or XBOX One.

Nice troll.

Haha, I may have written that with tongue firmly planted in cheek, but to be honest, neither of those systems really have much in the way of must-have exclusives, do they? I can think of a handful for each, but neither has really accumulated a notable library of outstanding games yet.

Everyone is different.  I own an Xbone but no Wii U.  I find more games I want on there than the Wii u.  Right now I Really only want DKTF and MK8.  Other than that the game to me are eh.  But hey game are games we all have different taste.

This. I have a Wii U and can thoroughly say that I LOVE THE SYSTEM!  ;D It has great games, nice design, and even some great downloadable games! Definitely one of my favorites!
To be this good it takes AGES!

See Lego City Undercover.
= Lego GTA, and actually good Lego game.

As long as we are touting our favourite games, let me add this: If you really love side-scrolling platformers, then DKC: Tropical Freeze is the secret best game on the Wii U.

Usually I pass right over those Lego games, but that sounds interesting.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

For me it's the other way round. I'm a sucker for these Lego games but have absolutely no interest in Lego City Undercover. For me the appeal of the Lego games is to see beloved franchises become "lego-ified". In games like Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones you see these famous iconic scenes from the movies Lego style, which is hilarious. Whereas Lego City Undercover is just a Lego game in GTA style if that makes any sense.

back to topic:

I have a Wii U, PS4 and Xbox One and I haven't turned on the Wii U in a year now. I'm a huge Nintendo fanboy but after the Wii I was realistic enough to know that once the initial launch craze was over Nintendo itself would be the only company to make the games worth owning a Wii U for. The Wii U exclusive features for multiplatform games have all been very gimmicky and tacked on. I think it's only worth buying a Wii U if you like the exclusive third party games and/or if you love Nintendo games.
I bought a Wii U mainly because it has/will have the games that you can only play on that system and the big hitters like Mario, Zelda and Metroid (I can dream, can I ;) )

I understand.

And Lego City Undercover has that too, as it is full of parodies of movies and famous people.

I hate to derail the Lego City Undercover discussion (it's a game I knew I had to own, but I haven't yet played. I will get to it this summer!), but I recently returned to Hyrule Warriors after playing about halfway through the game. Everything recently clicked, and I'm enjoying it immensely! The fan service in this game is really excellent.

I like the game... but recently I just have not been able to make myself continue clearing the adventure maps due to the repetitiveness.

I love my Wii U. I never even bought an Xbox 360 or PS3. Some day... Then their successors. I agree that every game mentioned in this thread is awesome, but I don't really play any games too much anymore, it seems. I use the gamepad all the time, just to play Youtube videos on my TV, and browse the internet. I don't know what it is, I just don't enjoy playing games much anymore. I'd rather watch movies, TV or just browse online. Back in the NES and SNES days, you couldn't get me to stop playing. The last game I played all the way through was on NES. Nowadays, I just play for like 5 minutes and get bored. But the Wii U is still the best current system to me.

I keep on ALMOST buying a Wii U, mainly because I'm a sucker for complete series. I can't have a complete Pikmin/Donkey Kong/Mario/Zelda series without a Wii U.

The Wii U feels like an also-ran, even though it's still out and new games are still being made for it. That's probably a side effect of pretty much everyone in my circle of friends having gone exclusively PlayStation. It may also be because the relative lack of third-party support makes it seem like no one is making anything for the Wii U other than Nintendo. It might even be a subconscious result of their low sales numbers - after all, who wants to buy into a failure?

Ah well, I'm sure there will be some kind of sale this holiday season, and I will probably get one then - I need the series' to be complete!  8)

The lack of third party doesn't bother me really.  It's the Nintendo games that make a difference.  The sheer number of shitty titles that flooded the wii library due to third party support made it a minefield when trying to find any hidden gems.

The Wii 3rd party situation was the worst. It reminds me a lot of the budget bins you'd see for the PS1/2 back in the day. Games that no one seemed to buy, that were getting made by the hundreds.
