I think there is a place for this, but it's gotten a little nuts. Half the game section at WalMart looks like the toy section!!

I want the option of CARDS. Toys are great for kids, but I just don't have the place for them. I bought a couple Amiibos, as they were great figurines, but stopped when they got to popular. I just wanted them for display, but now there are to many to bother with and are crazy expensive.

I'm back to just picking up random toys. Actually for a HUGE plush Tails (36"?) and a 12" Plush DK for $2 ea. Also about 12 Pokemon plush toys for .25 each this past weekend, and I'm much happier with those buys!

Sadly I think this toy-in-game trend will continue to grow.  Maybe it will mature to something sustainable, as it stands right now retailers are already looking cramped.

The "cards" system has been done before and flopped. It was the e-reader for the GBA, so unless they do something better, like make the cards out of plastic or some engenious way to make them sell better, they would flop again. The amiibos sell well because they are toys so little kids want them. They are also collectible, so of course, out come the scaplers to inflate the prices for resale.

I think you are right there.  I would prefer the cards because it's so much easier to store them.  But I'm in the minority.  I'm one of those guys who thinks the e-Reader was a pretty cool idea.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

And I agree. I liked the e-reader too. But at the same time I never used it. The animal crossing, pokemon, and smb 3 functionality was pretty cool though.
One of the drawbacks was how long it took to load up all the cards to unlock a single game for instance Excitebike. It for some reason took forever to fully load.
What are you looking at? You think baby's don't like video games? THEN YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT BABIES!!

I don't remember having that problem.  If anything took a long time for me, it was because I had to scan the card three or four times before it would read.

Well technology has gotten MUCH better.  Just look at the AR Cards that come with the 3DS. Imagine being able to buy packs of "Ereader" type cards that you just flash in from of the camera, OR that have  the RFID chip in them for a "tap" to download/unlock.  It would be awesome!

$15 per figure is just too much. I think this has become a competition as to who can make the most expensive toy game.

Merged these two related topics.

And to answer the question: It depends on reviews.

There was a PS3 game called Eye of Judgement - you played it with physical cards that were scanned into the game. This deformed picture should give you an idea -

This shit annoys me.  Sure my kid will love this sort of thing when he's old enough (which is fine with me), but as an adult collector, I don't want to be hassled with toy add-ons for my video games.  Games are already freakin' toys. I don't need more toy in my toys. There's enough already.

Definitely this describe how I feel with this

One of the things I love about collecting games is that I can fit a very large collection in a small area.  Figures, not so much.

And also this

I remember some sort of program where you can make a Lego model in 3D and have them ship it to you.

I also Googled Lego Dimensions and got this:

I think this game was named badly.

The same happen to me when I did the Google search yesterday lol :P
