I was just reading a news article about Computer science student Erik Roystan Ross. He has finished a level 1 recreation of Super Mario 64.
I understand that we can download it and play. Win/Lin/Mac versions.

interesting...

Looks really awesome!

(I'm honestly a bit worried that Nintendo might issue a C&D though...)

So far the big N has been pretty quiet. Altogether, it's kinda cool, but a bit disappointing. There are ALOT of things missing from the stage, and it's pretty much just a sandbox with nothing to do (No red coins, no missions, no Big Bobomb, etc.) But I do realize this is a fan project, and it is very impressive for what it is.
My cover requests:

Jade Cocoon (PS1)
Shovel Knight (3ds/WiiU)

It's nowhere near done yet. He will be fully recreating the game in HD. This is only a small wip sample. I hear that Tee Lopes is working on the soundtrack remixes for him!

In that case, that's cool. I thought I read that he wasn't doing anything else with it.

I understand that he doesn't have any plans to continue development. However, I am reading info at various websites that many other programmers may already be working on it.

I'm also reading reports about Nintendo considering an HD version. but I cannot confirm such a report.

but he is using Blender.

Looks dated compared with Super Mario 3D World.

@Sega Nomadman
Easy to do get confused with all of the info out there. I didn't realize that so many people were working on a Mario project. Wow!

I have Blender but I have yet to learn how to use it. All of this Mario talk has inspired me to start messing around with it. I'd like to remake Twisted Metal 4 with better characters and graphics. I'm going to start reading more about Blender and character animation.

anyway, I like the idea of a Mario 64 HD. I actually like alot of N64 games. Good stuff.
I'm going to look for a copy of the source code...

Well, it seems Nintendo has pulled the plug.

why? what has happened?

I must've missed something. I've been programming most of the day.

@FritzWhite: Thanks for the update. I was just about to Google it.

I don't disagree with Nintendo but I don't like it.
no further comments.

Have a Great Day Friends ...
Thanks again, Fritz.
