In the spirit of March Madness, my local retro gamer Facebook page decided to have a contest setup similar to the March Madness basketball tournament.  64 NES games were selected by all members of the group and randomly put into the tournament brackets.  Then in each round members voted on their favorite games until there was a final winner.  To keep things simple, we didn't fill out an entire bracket.  Each person would just fill out their predicted final four and the overall winner.  Well this morning it officially ended and yours truly was the winner.  I think I get a gift card to a local game shop for $20 or something, but the bragging rights are worth 10 times that. 8)

Anyway, just thought I would brag on myself a little bit.  It was a fun tournament.  Maybe we can setup something like that here next year.

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

My final four were:
  Super Mario Bros. 3
  Super Mario Bros.
  The Legend of Zelda
  Metroid

And Super Mario Bros. 3 as the final winner.

Oddly enough, only one other person had the same final four as me.  He had Zelda as the overall winner.  It ended up with Zelda and SMB3 as the final match.  So it came down to two people in the final match.  It was a pretty close match, but SMB3 came out on top, and so did I.  8)

The biggest "upset" was when SMB beat out Contra to make it into the final four.  That alone knocked out about 5 brackets.

The random match ups must have made it a little chaotic. I'd of made sure that SM3 and LoZ were both #1 seeds on opposite sides.

I think he did that at least to a certain extent.  I didn't ask about the details.  The initial brackets seemed pretty even to me.

Here's the bracket.  The only thing missing is the winner which was SMB3.  Obviously there is some seeding there, but I'm not sure how it was decided.  The group as a whole picked the games, but after that it was setup by one guy.  It was pretty fun overall.

We're talking about doing SNES next year.
