Hello all,

Was not sure where to post this as it is obviously not an issue related to anything with our beloved site here but after much googling, I cannot find any kind of current solution to this.

So, basically, when I post a cover in a thread I like to use the thumbnail link as it obviously allows it to be viewed more efficiently and saves space.

When I decided to switch that over the normal full size "IMG" forum links that Photobucket provide, I simply turned on the setting for the thumbnail IMG link to be available when I upload an image, and have used them ever since.

However, the last 3 uploads I have done (since about a week and a half ago), the thumbnail link provided in the same old thumbnail link box.......ends up providing a full size image on here.

I have tried manipulating the code on here, as it seems that there is a "th" (for thumbnail presumably) near the end of the overall link code missing.......so have added that back in to where it should be, and is on ALL the other links that work as they should but it then becomes a broken link.

Again, I have searched for hours to find a current reporting of a problem and the only things I can find are from a year or so ago reporting this issue, and it was from an update Photobucket did.

Yeah.........so again, sorry if this is a bit random and not where it should be but any help, thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated as I want to post some new covers but cannot stand the HUGE images all links I get from Photobucket produce.

Here is an example of the old (first) and new codes that the thumbnail box provides me with.......I have purposefully removed the beginning "[" from the 2 levels of code so you can actually see it instead of the image)......see how different they are? I have tried to make the 2nd one look exactly the same as the first but that just breaks the link).

You were missing some brackets there. Don't know if you did that intentionally, but it seems to work just fine with them restored.

Its (without spaces in beackets)

[ url = (web address)] [ img ] Something.jpg [ /img ] [/url ]

Random Example

I just had that open in another tab

Text can also be there as well

You can always quote something to see what it looks like in code form.

Yeah, I intentionally removed the brackets so you guys could see the code......otherwise the images would just have been displayed............I said it towards the end of that admittedly long ass post. lol

"I have purposefully removed the beginning "[" from the 2 levels of code so you can actually see it instead of the image".

Anyway, I am confused as all hell now.........as Wiggy, if all you did was add the brackets back in THAT I REMOVED! lol, then why the hell is that different for me.

I will go and get the links direct from Photobucket again and post them here and then not touch them.......so you guys can see the difference.

AND NOW OF COURSE IT EFFING WORKS!!!!!!  ??? ??? ??? ??? :o :o :o :'(.................

Seriously, this has bugged me for over a week, I have messed around with that code so many times to try and get it to be a thumbnail............and now it is, direct from Photobucket...........EXACTLY the same as I have been doing it during this time of it not working.

I can see from that link there (which again, I just copied directly from PB like I always do) has the "th_" back in near the end which I was trying to add back in myself whilst it was not working right...........but every time I did that, ie: made it look like it should, it just broke the link.

To prove I am not going insane, the image I posted in my SFC cover thread still shows it like that if you scroll down to Super Mario World (and I wont edit it now until tomorrow so you guys can see that I am not a big old basket of nuts! lol) =

As does the Dreamcast thread where I posted a couple of covers, again, selecting and copying the thumbnail link from PB but it displayed here as a full size image =

Another option you could upload your covers on Mediafire instead of using Photobucket.

Ohh I use mediafire as well Mel.........but that wont display a preview image on here though right? never seen that option as I have always used that as the download link combined with the PB image to display it here.

Think I saw it done that way the first time I had a look around here and just followed suit.

Anyway, its fine now, what ever it was has righted itself.......and maddeningly at the same time I finally ask for help with it! lol.

Yes, you can share a preview image using mediafire too. You click on Share then you can change image size by clicking on Choose Embed Size and then click the link icon it's near Forum Embed Code to copy the code.
Here's an example

Wow, that is awesome and makes things much easier and streamlined......never noticed the option for that and just assumed mediafire was for file uploading/downloading only.

Many thanks Mel, I shall give that a go and it will also help with reducing the characters in the compiled lists of my covers......as I am nearing the limit on one of them.

Just edited all my posts on here with all my covers compiled in them and I love it!!! much easier, quicker and neater in all ways!......in terms of processing for me, how they look on here and ultimately for people who want to download them as well!

Many thanks again Mel, really glad I brought this up as the original issue is not only fixed but you have shown me a way to make all my existing stuff look and be better!
