Got myself some TOAD this morning. The first Walmart I went to had a dozen of those.

Why do people think that he is rare?  Didn't that lineup come just today?

Because all the pre-orders sold out at every internet outlet.

Though I currently see it on gamestop.com.

That was my impression as well. It sold out pretty fast (compared to others from the same series). I wanted it for the Captain Toad game more than for MP 10.

Was at 2 target's fairly late tonight (within the last 30 minutes) and both had 3+ Toads.
Either Nintendo got their act together and started better producing quantities, or a lot of people got off the Amiibo train.

Friend got me a Gold Amiibo and is shipping it to me, but I went out looking for the new Amiibo. Couldn't find Toad or Bowser in the stores around me, got the rest though.

My Mario Party 10 bundle arrived today as well.

Went to Gamestop.com and ordered both Toad and Bowser, so now I'm going to be at a complete current set again.

Also got the Zelda manga boxset. Preordered the Legend of Zelda: A link to the Past manga which comes out in may as well.

Oh I agree.... but given the rarity of some of the smash bros line and the speed with which they sold out in pre-orders, its easy to understand why everyone thought they would be rare.

Now the Gold Mario Walmart Exclusive that sold out in minutes in its pre-order and stores only averaged 8 in stock. People seemed to have scooped those up within minutes of the midnight release.

That's a given.  There may be more of those gold marios than any other amiibo (and we'll never know), but them being gold and all is obviously an excellent way for nintendo to cash-in BIG time on their current popularity.  I know I would if I were in their position.  I'd give Wal-Fart a hundred million of those things and watch em fly off the shelves!

Yesh I dont get why nintendo doesnt flood the market with these things. Especially with that gold one. Apparently the more colors it contains the more expensive it is to make. Gold Mario should be super cheap. its one color.

No no no. The goal is to create demand, which Nintendo is excellent at doing. They release some new "limited" whatever just about every month on top of the whole amiibo thing.

In doing so, you get people to buy more than one of the exact same product (I.e. special edition 3DS systems). Who needs two?  Nobody. But many suckers who may already have a 3DS will also want whatever weak-ass special edition they come out with next month as well, and so they do.

As far as amiibos go, I wouldn't expect any of the newer releases to be "rare" by any measure of the word. They've built a HUGE amount of hype around the product and got people roped into thinking that they've gotta get em all on day one or it ain't gonna happen.  So everyone buys em in quantity (again, getting you to buy more than one of the EXACT same item) becuase they think of them as an invesemt.

Ha. That's a laugh. There will probably be more sealed amiibos than open in 5 years

Finally got RealPlumpBox's set in the mail.
Target buy me currently has 4 Ganondorf's and 3 Links.
If anyone else wants/needs a set (or just one of the 2) let me know and I'll swing back and try and pick them up tomorrow.

Seems my closest target (less than 5 mins from the house) keeps getting in these 2, I'm not going to complain. Hopefully if the Zelda ones keep selling they'll be more inclined to stock lots of the 2nd series coming out this summer.
