So I was thinking... Aside from the new 3D and increased processing power, is the new 3ds xl basically just a built in circle pad pro? I haven't tried it with games like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate or Resident Evil Revelations yet, but  Majora's Mask said something about the circle pad pro in the options menu.

Yes.
They did do some slight menu differences especially with the wifi switch. Kinda sucks for some games. I think I'll just stick with my old system.

Well, it is a new hardware as it will have proprietary software in the future. An example of this is Xenoblade Chronicles 3-D. It also has extra shoulder buttons.

I will admit, the 3d effect is much better on it. On the original, I never use the 3d. Mostly because I hate trying to find that sweet spot and it ends up giving me a headache anyway. With the new 3ds I have left the 3d on the entire time, and it really is a cool effect. So if 3d is your thing, this is definitely a quality upgrade

The camera tracks your eyes for a better 3D viewing experience.

If you think about it, that's kind creepy.
I'm personally not a fan of the 3D capabilities anyway. I never use it, never will use it.

And the original circle pad pro had  the extra shoulder buttons. At least I thought they did. I'll have to go home an look at mine.

So all in all, the new 3ds is worthless to me until they actually put out that awesome game that is strictly for that system...

The Circle Pad Pro does have the extra shoulder buttons. Now to find myself one of those... :) Personally I'm not after the New 3DS right now, I've got my regular 3DS and once I have the Circle Pad Pro I'll be set till they come out with some great title for the New one. One selling point would be if I could COPY my downloads to the new one and not just TRANSFER them.  :(

So I popped in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and sure enough, it works just as if I were using the CPP,except  better. The N3DS's processor is WAY faster than the standard, and as a result, a lot of games run much smoother.

That's the thing which annoys me the most about digital-only games/contentt. I can't just pop my profile onto a different console. I've got to go through some tedious and time consuming transfer process.  Just one more reason that I do my best to avoid digital downloads.

Ya. But some games like Shovel Knight that are download only are too good to pass up! Man, I wish developers could always do a physical release.

Already having purchased Shovel Knight on 3DS, I would buy it again in a heartbeat if they released a physical copy.

Shovel Knight is fantastic. The way they used the 3D for a pseudo- depth-of-field effect was pretty cool.

And to answer the topic question, I've found the 3D effect to be a lot more tolerable since there's no sweet spot and it doesn't seem as straining on the eyes. What use the ZL and ZR buttons are gonna play I have no idea yet; Only game I've seen that uses them so far is Smash Bros. and even then they're just used as the reverse of regular L / R so you can use both moves with one finger.
