Where do you get your boxart?

I'm not sure if you fully read the text or not: using a scan of my own box.
if the image is scanned, then the transparency is intentional by the artist. I searched for box photos and i see that SEGA must've released atleast three versions of the box. I've never seen a game box printed with ink that fades revealing a background. I'm not an expert but i doubt that this is true. I suspect that the transparency is intentional.

it appears that a second version has a solid box instead of a transparent box.
I wonder if SEGA has a way of identifying re-released material or not? Nintendo has a wonderful concept of data tracking: a re-released box contains a modified code. for example, SNS-code-USA-1. the -1 being a modified box. I am unaware of any such data on SEGA boxes. Anyone know?
I am thinking that the box used for the scan is an original release. interesting...

No, I read the text. But if you take a screened value, like the blue (especially a lighter blue like that is) and place it directly over a dark background like what's shown on the box, you're going to get some of that background showing through since the screened value isn't a solid one. In this case you're seeing the grid behind it. That's just the nature of offset printing.

I disagree with that assumption. Besides, it is obvious to me that the box art was modified including the logo. We are both entitled to opinions. No harm, no foul.
On another note, the vector that you have posted appears to be off a bit upon close inspection. I notice that the Cyborg wordmark in your vector image is closer to the blue rectangle than the one printed on the cover. I'm not sure how that would happen if you have used the original logo. interesting. Have you ever used Magic Tracer? I have the software but i've never used it. Just looking for opinions about it.
anyway, thanks and I hope that you have a great day.

Thanks for all the help.
Oobgarm, I tried to open that .psd file, but it seems to be incompatible with my version of photoshop. :(
Is livetrace in CS2? Is so I definately need to have a go at that, unfortunately I didn't use that vector, "Cyborg" and "Justice" were closer then in the original.
Had a go at cleaning it up though.
I have done a normal Mega Drive, using Grumbleduke's template.

Also here's the original scan.

On a side note, Mediafire users, is there a way to post small "previews" of pictures, without showing the full size thing.
Edited - To show previews.

I'm glad that you were able to finish the cover. I've downloaded it and I think that it looks pretty good
Nice job ;D
I use mediafire but i've not explored options for preview images. I just tried Firefox page info/media option and collected the following link for you:

Tools > Page Info > Media then scroll through the list of images until you find the uri to the preview-size image.
it works for me...

Brilliant, thanks Noemann.
