Appreciate any help I can get, any chance you could give me a break down of what your doing?

Also, is there anyway I can avoid this problem with future scans, can't say I have much in the way of options, I just set it for 600dpi, there wasn't an option for descreen or derasterize.

here is a new semi-transparent box:

i have very little free time for awhile, so i cannot help further. need to go to bed soon...
have a great night.
DEL 707:
Thanks for that!  ;D

How did you do it by the way, did you create a vector in illustrator?
Oobgarm:
It looks like the blue box was printed on top of the black background, and the screened blue color is letting the background show through, so that may not be intentional. I made up a full logo that is solid:

I've saved it as a .psd file here:

And yes, making a vector in Illustrator is the way to go. Live Trace is quite helpful.

I do not like Adobe or Adobe products. I do not own shares of Adobe stock, thus I am not interested in promoting Adobe in any way.
I am a rebel:  I use Ulead PhotoImpact which no longer exists. PI was sold to Corel, then axed.
However, my methods require more time and effort. You may wish to learn Photoshop and ask for help in the PS community.

You would have to ask a Photoshop lover for how to perform the following tasks in Photoshop:

I use the rectangle shape creation tool to create the blue rectangle as an object (layer in Adobe PS?).
I set the transparency to 8% which looks close to the box scan.
You could create another rectangle as an outline for the white border but i use the selection tool to manually outline.

I use the fill tool with anti-aliasing set to 10 for the red Cyborg wordmark. Then, I manually replace any discolored pixels.
I have a much busier schedule this year, so i do not have time to work on covers. I will help when i can do so.
I see that Oobgarm created a logo for you, so you could use that instead.

vector is nice but it is not always precise. I often prefer to recreate the logo myself. However, i would suggest sticking with vector if you can do so. I have Magic Tracer for vector work but I never use it. I haven't mastered it yet.

Have a great day.

I'm not sure if you fully read the text or not: using a scan of my own box.
if the image is scanned, then the transparency is intentional by the artist. I searched for box photos and i see that SEGA must've released atleast three versions of the box. I've never seen a game box printed with ink that fades revealing a background. I'm not an expert but i doubt that this is true. I suspect that the transparency is intentional.

it appears that a second version has a solid box instead of a transparent box.
I wonder if SEGA has a way of identifying re-released material or not? Nintendo has a wonderful concept of data tracking: a re-released box contains a modified code. for example, SNS-code-USA-1. the -1 being a modified box. I am unaware of any such data on SEGA boxes. Anyone know?

I am thinking that the box used for the scan is an original release. interesting...
