A Swedish store just started selling these die-cut NES graphic overlays (http://www.retrospelboxar.se/335-nes-graphics-overlay), made from vinyl and with a semi gloss finish for a whopping $35 which is outrageous, but I still like the idea of customizing and protecting some of my units, thoughts?

The controller overlays have been around for quite a while but this is the first time I'm actually seeing a commercially backed attempt at customizing the NESunits other than the invasive pay-for-spray-methods. Anyone know of any other place that actually offer similar skins at a more reasonable price?

And granted, the units look absolutely dashing in their original state, but c'mon, who doesn't want a Kirby-pink NES? ;-)

The Megaman version looks awesome and some of his controller overlays are quite nice aswell.
Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!

If they're thermal printed vinyl graphics, then the price is very fair.  That equipment is quite pricey and the materials aren't cheap either, and that's a whole lot of overlay.

That said, ick. I hate this sort of crap. It just seems cheap and uninspired.  Plus it doesn't cover the entire surface. It can't by virtue of how it's applied, and ends up looking like someone just put a sticker on a box (which is essentially what it is).

This..  It is cool, but I'd rather see someone churning out some replacements SHELLS for the old NES/SNESs.  And not the "Spray and Pray (it doesn't chip)" kind..  If someone out there put together a slim line version of the NES shell using old parts and re-positioning of internals.. that would be amazing..  Sort of how the GenerationNEX looks ..

This is the one I like:

It's a neat idea for covering up a yellow system. Wiggy's right though, it doesn't cover the entire surface. If it can't do that, I'm not interested. that's a lie. even if it did, I wouldn't be interested.

Ah, reminds me of my insanely over-ambitious mini SNES shell plans...

I HATE when people mix up the character art eras. It never looks right when you have 3D 2015 Mario on an NES repro cart, or an NES system.Like this one:

SPP is not even on the system.
