Hello, just wanted to ask if anyone has any luck with burning off their own rips of DC games from their collection of own (not pirated) games. I've having all sorts of burning issues. I've burned the CDI image using 3 programs (Nero/Disk Juggler/ IMGburn) using three different types of media (Sony,Memorex,Verbatim) on four different burners...still cant play this damn game. The issue I'm having is that it recognizes the game, launches the game - I get the Dreamcast Logo flash screen in the game, my Memory Card reads the game Title and displays it to me. But it never goes to the title screen, just stays black. :-\ I'm more than happy to take a picture of the blank CD sitting beside the Legit purchased game if that eases tension, and please do not link any rom/iso download sites.

Some games need to be modified a bit in order to play from a cdr. Just download known working ISOs and burn from them instead.  Also, ripping GDs isn't as easy as ripping CDs/DVDs. Some drives just won't do it properly or at all.

I did try downloading a known working version and Im having the same issues, think my laser is fubar'd? I have back up games that are working fine, and my originals work with no issues but this one damn game is proving to be a nightmare; oh it's a self booting cdi file btw.

Don't forget that some models of DCs will not read backup games.

Check the internet and see if your DC matches the models that work
If you have nothing to do... Don't do it here!

I remember I needed to get a specific plug in for imgburn to burn cdi images.  but if you burned any other games then maybe that's not the reason...

What specific game are you trying to backup?

I don't think it's really the laser either if every other game is working besides that one.

You can't directly copy a DC game from a pc's cdrom drive. You'll only get a couple of cdda tracks. You'll need an sd adapter or bba, then you need to fight copy protections and/or possibly down sample audio or video. Sort the files and create images (doesn't downloading them sound so much easier at this point?).

As far as burning you can try Alcohol 120% also. Never had an issue, demo is perfect because it forces the slowest speed which is suggested for these games.

Thanks for the support guys, few notes from the past 5 hours of working on this, I've been able to play burned games on this DC using IMGburn I've made about 20 or so games thus far no issues, I've DL'd a couple of games that I've had since I bought them new - they are just scratched to all hell. The game I'm having an issue with is Evolution for DC, from the ReviveDC team; I've downloaded the second one aswell and burned it with no issue - I've been using Sony, Verbatim, and Memorex CDR's. And I've adjusted the laser and it's reading my other backup's great. Just can't seem to burn Evolution, over 36k+ downloads all great comments saying no issues with burning, I've used 4 different burners all at various speed. This game just hates me  ;D

Are you using a vga box or vga cables?  If I remember correctly that was one of the few games that wasn't compatible with vga mode and you needed to use the composite cables.  I'll double check though

--edit--

Never mind...game is compatible but I could've sworn I had a similar issue with it :/

Don't judge me when I say this, but I'm actually using an old RF adapter that I used to have when I had it as a kid. And yes it does look terrible.

Every RDC should work with no problems at all on the software end. Search for the translation to Fire Pro wrestling D, give a try and pick up the import (translation was done by me  ;D).

I've tried five of their games and so far, only one has actually worked for me.

So I've worked out all the kinks I think and have burned some successful backups of a some games, the issue apparently (which now concerns me more) is my memorycards, once I removed them from the controller - all the games I've burned read flawlessly.
