I don't mind that it didn't come with the game. Now I have a physical copy, like Ocarina of Time 3D.
My cover requests:

Jade Cocoon (PS1)
Shovel Knight (3ds/WiiU)

this is true.  But the pal was a hell of a lot more available than the US version.  I remember nintendo uk had 4 or 5 different times when tje system/skull kid bundle were available.  My guess is the scalping wasnt as rampant across the pond

And why would it be? NoE seemed to have correctly predicted how many units they needed, could sell and still have a sell out (also the announcement of a second wave in March probably helped as well). Since the various bundles were up for days/weeks there wasn't the extra "OMG this is rare! I can make a quick $200" like the scalpers in NA had.

That said, NoE seems to be run a hell of a lot better than NoA so it shouldn't be a shock that Europe didn't have as many issues.

I always figured that pre-orders were to gauge demand for a product and the adjust supply accordingly.  Now it seems if you don't pre order you don't get it. This wouldn't even be so bad if the pre order were up long enough for anyone interested to find out about it and get it ordered. I am sick of constantly checking on when things go up for pre order. Takes all the fun out of it. I hope they at least ship more of the N3ds XL for those that couldn't get one.

I always believed this. Don't anymore. I thought the demand for majora's mask was blatant (you know all the petitions and requests as soon as OOT came out) that they would want to make the money by selling more systems. I understand the theory behind the limited supply but it made no sense to use it here.

It sucks really because there is nothing I can do. I want the zelda system but not at a $200 increase. I wanted to give nintendo money and they didn't want it. As a fan with a job and studies, by the time i found out about these releases they were gone. This whole thing makes me angry.

Maybe It will end up like the Wii and I will be able to get it later for $25 bucks. not holding my breath.

I really don't think these will stay this high in price.  It may last a few years, but it will eventually drop.  You may end up paying near $200 for a used one, but like everything else in the last 10 years, it will eventually become old and outdated.  And resellers will move on.

New/Sealed Zelda 25th Anniversary / OoT 3DS Bundle's go for $400+
New/Sealed WW WiiU Bundle's go for 400+
New/Sealed ALBW 3DSXL Bundle's go for 250+

(Can find exceptions on all of them, but in general they're going for above that price).

Zelda LE's usually increase in value, don't see the MM N3DSXL coming down much, unless a 2nd wave is made available in the US.

To everyone who got a copy of the 3DS or the collectors edition game, I hate you. I also hate Nintendo for not making enough. I don't understand. Nintendo gets no benefit from not meeting demand. They make no additional money from scalped resales. </rant>

  :P

I feel some of the stock shortages are the same with Amiibos, something is holding up Nintendo from keeping demand. The others were not this scarce.

JoyRide's Luigi Mansion figure, from the early 2000s, also made a Mario Sunshine, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Zelda OOT and other gaming figures.

One of the rarest from the series, it ran me $180 for a NIB one. None are on eBay ATM, they pop up from time to time, a few have in the last 2 months for cheaper. Open ones tend to be missing parts.

You'll note I said "used" in my post.  If you're a collector who wants new a few years down the line, then you're stuck with whatever is out there.  But even though these "new" sets will be higher than retail, their market value does drop after the initial spike.  For example, the WW special edition w/ Ganondorf.  Shortly after release it was sold out everywhere and commanded almost $200 on eBay at some auctions.  Before this whole MM hype started you could find them for around $100 - $125.  Still more than the $60 retail price, yes,  but significantly cheaper than initial resale value.
Also...as I said before...WW WiiU and LBW3ds are still in stores, so if people pay that much for them online (unless you live in a remote area) that;s on them.

Also, keep this in mind...DO NOT BUY ANYTHING ZELDA ON EBAY OR ANYWHERE ELSE RIGHT NOW!  With the hype MM has gotten, prices are spiked EVERYWHERE.  Larry mentioned having to pay $50 for OoT on 3ds used...a game that went for $25 two months ago.  Let things calm down for a bit.

Limiting things creates demand. Then the next time some "rare" Uhmeebos come out or whatever they shovel on to us in "limited" quantities, people are chomping at the bit for it. Oldest marketing trick in the book. As long as they can keep on rolling out "limited" items, then the cash flow will continue to be FAR from limited.

Yes, there are some people who bought a Marth because he was rare, at the same time I know a ton of people who wanted the Skull Kid figure, or Little Mac and Villager Amiibos regardless of them being rare or limited. They got the hype going, but nothing to fill it other than scalpers. They would make FAR more money making more because they would sell more. Hype for Amiibos is not helping DK, Peach and Yoshi, who many stores are now putting on clearance. People want many of the characters because they want the character, hype may contribute but it only does so much when there are no more to sell.

Yes.  They will make more, albeit new, different characters. And you'll buy them. Nintendo knows what they're doing here. They aren't short-sighted or unaware of the popularity of these things.

Like I said, create demand by limiting supply, then continue to churn out new product within that line.

Simply "making more" does NOT guarantee more sales. On the other hand, constantly having new items for a product line which has proven to be very successful is a fairly surefire way to do so, and they seem to be churning out new characters with ease.

I'm not sure why some of you can't see how simple a marketing tactic this is and why it's so successful. If ALL of these silly things were available at every store, all of the time, then nobody would be having these discussions and how acquiring them is akin to stumbling upon the ark of the covenant.

Even the resellers help Nintendo's cause as they only further the idea that some of these are so rare and unobtainable, thus building all that much more hype/excitement/etc.

Iwata confirmed the port strike is effecting stock of systems and Amiibos.
