I think I feel bad, but good. Ambivalent about it actually. I started collecting about one year ago. Really, it was the PS4 that drove me to collect the 8 or 9 classic consoles that I have. It was the PS4 that got me really hyped about gaming. But ironically PS4 hype turned into a bunch of cravings for nostalgia. Intense cravings.
I have one friend who had just been playing some sports games for the last 10 years. But once he learned that I had this new found passion of collecting retro consoles/games, he started his own trend. Has collected over 300 PS2 games and is still going hard at it everyday now, going to goodwills, garage sales, and more. Not only does he play the new sport games, but he's collecting all the old sports games too. And he has joked with me from time to time that it's all my fault that he's a game hunter now. He also bought a CRT after I did. He he, I remember right before he started his journey, he asked me why the hell I was so obsessed with all these different games. He said, ''You get a game and just play it, no big deal.'' But since saying that, he's spend hundreds of hours just researching games for the PS2-PS1 and has bought a boat load. He does have an under 5 dollar rule though for each game. But he's at the goodwills day in day out, hunting more and more for what's available.
My other friend was never really much into games. He says he had an Atari and Genesis back in the day and loved them, but that was long ago. Now he has another friend who has a major addiction to buying movies. 6000 movies and he thinks he's crazy. I got into a discussion with them about my passion for games. So I showed my friend the Cover Project and actually used his printer to print some games out. 1 month later my friend went from having no consoles, to buying a 60 inch 3dtv and a PS4, PS3, PS2, and even PS1 (he doesn't know about PS2 backwards compatibility.

) And now he's talking about buying an Xbox One (for it's look), NES, Atari, and Sega Dreamcast. He went from totally uninterested to an addict. Furthermore, he is going to start printing out Atari games after learning about this site through me. He says his goal is to have the best entertainment possible for all his friends. He just wants the baddest game room ever.
I don't know what I'm doing that makes them want to copy me so badly, ha ha. But I always warn them to think twice before they spend a lot of money on something whether it be a new console or game. Because it's okay to spend money, and it's their decision, but I don't want them spending money on things they don't love.
