I'm not sure if I should be asking this here or the artists corner.

I've wasted most of my weekend looking at a picture in Photoshop and crying. Having never used it before or any kind of picture editing software, it's been a bit of a learning curve.
I needed a Lemmings cover for my Snes cart, couldn't see one uploaded, so I figured I'd have a go at making one, a decision I immediately regretted.

And here's a link to the full picture.

I had a hell of a lot of fun removing the Sunsoft and Pysgnosis logo's, down on the cliff face., would have left them there, but they were getting cut off. So I spent a good hour last night (and several cans of Fosters) using the clone stamp tool getting rid of them. Again, no idea what I was doing, mainly guess work.

If I wanted to upload this for other people to use, are they any special safe options I need to do?

Title isn't in the centre, but if I move it anymore to the left, I'm gonna chop off part of the lead Lemmings hand.

The text on the left is a bit "flat", I'm not sure what to do about that.

There's a few versions of this cover on the cover project:

If you're using photoshop, we have tutorials to help you: http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=14505.0

Your effort is not too shabby. Publisher Info and logos are wrong but it's a good effort.

Well, could have done with that 48 hours ago.

Why aren't they up in the download section?

I would say that 99% of all covers have been done and are on the forums. So, just do a forum search. If you can't find it, post a request. The site is based on volunteer work. There's only a handful of members who can post covers onto the downloadable section. Either a cover doesn't meet site standards or it's just waiting for approval. Some covers slip under the cracks.

When searching in the forums, "advanced search" is your friend.  It also helps to use quotes (" ") with your search just in case the game title has common words found in other games.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Pretty good cover, however:

- No Only for Nintendo logos as game was released on multiple non-Nintendo platforms.
- Front image is bit grainy (not too bad but maybe not quite site quality.
- 3 typos: adorage, fonfusion and exinction = Adorable (with capital A), confusion and extinction.
- Legal text box needs correct info.
- It needs the SNS code: SNS P LE
- It needs the correct barcode
- Some tinkering so title logos are no so close to edges (front one 5mm lower (by building the purple area bigger and the one on the back moved 5-10 mm right).
- Gray bar should have 3 Sunsoft logos.
- Needs 1 Psygnosis logo somewhere suitable.
- Screenshots should not normally have black borders around the image inside the white borders... but in this case I think it's OK (altough real cover does not have those).

Here is quite bad version of back cover: http://img.gamefaqs.net/box/6/1/0/23610_back.jpg
You can see the whole back text and just bareley read the legal legal stuff on lower right corner.
Also barcode numbers can ba seen there.

The text on the left is a bit "flat", I'm not sure what to do about that.

Use drop shadow.

Anyway keep up the good work, but pay attention to details.
Feel free to ask advice on the boards or via PM

Yeah, yeah... I should have free time soonish so I'll then get off from my lazy butt and start going thru SNES Verticals submitted to the site, PMed to me, snagged from topics or done by myself. :P

Usually yes but some people are too lazy to type the name of the game... PEOPLE REMEMBER: The search function can not read titles of the images.

This.

I TRY to type the name of any game cover or scan I put on this site so that they pop up in search results.

Thanks for the feedback, is there anything I can do about the grainy picture? I took it off the only uploaded Snes cover.

Shame that it all seems to be a wasted effort, was quite proud of what I did getting rid of those logo's.

Unfortunately, there really isn't a whole lot you can do. Most people would tell you to simply look for a higher quality scan and work with that, and they'd be in the right for saying so. You can only do so much to an image. For what it's worth, what you did turned out well, considering the materials you were working with and the fact that this is new to you. Give yourself credit for a good first attempt.

I gave up on Lemmings, took it as a life lesson and moved on.

But do you think there's a market for Starwing in USA setup?  :P

Basically copied the 1 uploaded. Even though I'm in the UK, I'm using NTSC art.
1. Better range of uploaded artwork.
2. Prefer the black and gray look over all the colour.
